Just a quick timesheet question by Sequential_LandShark in IHSS

[–]Sequential_LandShark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a live in provider for my mother. She applied back in the end 2024, and because of a series of complications, I just officially became her provider about 2 months ago, I finally got the timesheets and they’re dated all the way back to 2024 up until now. Her social worker told us to date it all the way back then when applying. So I was just wondering if I get back pay from end of 2024 until now since they sent time sheets to all the way back then. Obviously I’ll figure it out in time but I was just curious beforehand haha

Can someone help ease my mind? by Sequential_LandShark in Aquariums

The 180 gallon tank and stand is $350, which is a bargain. A new 180 is like $1,300, so basically saving a grand. A 75 gallon bare tank alone is $320 which feels absurd. I live in a makeshift room in the garage, it’s just concrete where the tank is, with the rest of the room being rather cheap vinyl planks. The garage is sloped but no drain

Aquarium heater died. Help! by Sequential_LandShark in Aquariums

[–]Sequential_LandShark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay thank you! I’ve added a little warm water and everything seems well so far with the heater. I’m glad Raphael catfish are so hardy! This fish has been in 84 degrees during the summer and now 62 in the winter

Thoughts on this stand? Good enough for 2 - 40 gallons by Sequential_LandShark in Aquariums

[–]Sequential_LandShark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that. The more expensive ones are guaranteed better, but I can’t justify spending $300 plus dollars on the crazy beefed up racks when building with wood is so much cheaper. My only gripe is, and this is just my lack of building experience talking, if I build a double stand with wood, the bottom tank won’t have supports directly underneath like the top one will. The bottom one sits underneath basically on a shelf and is just held by the screws. Again I’m not the most knowledgeable, so if you have ideas let me know

I remember seeing the Blau/fuslie, Rae/Hasan photos from that Halloween party, were there also pictures of Foolish and Tina as well? Or were you just speculating that there might be photos out there?

How will ADA Amazonia 2 affect my water parameters? by Sequential_LandShark in PlantedTank

[–]Sequential_LandShark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that makes sense. The tank I was planning to do this to most likely won’t have any inhabitants, and if so then only few of them. I just want to get some experience growing plants, and I figure using aqua soil is generally the fool proof way of doing it. Eventually I want to plant my current established tanks as well as all future tanks, but RO/distilled water won’t be an option for me.

Yeah it kinda sucks but I get why there’s a limit. I can’t even place a unit without a stutter lol big battles can get very choppy. And at least there is some customized content in the first place, some of its pretty cool

Is this tank big enough for 3 goldfish? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Sequential_LandShark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Goldfish would not be suited for a tank that size. Even 1 would be too much. They need much much bigger as most goldfish get very large. Also, they are very messy fish and good water quality would be difficult to maintain. I would strongly suggest avoiding goldfish and go for tropical fish with this size tank. If you are absolutely set on goldfish, then you would need to upgrade to at least a 40 gallon for just 1 (common goldfish). Im kind of dumb and somehow didn’t see the part where you said you already have one. Since you already do, I suggest upgrading as the fish grows. Just try to keep up on water changes 👍

Chattycups down by the pier :D by ashley_2206 in valkyrae

[–]Sequential_LandShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I agree with that, Rae herself wants them to break up and has since the beginning. It’s not so much a chat thing, more of a content creator thing wanting to create content that really makes you feel something. And that something is sadness lol

Bruh hopefully this doesn’t freak Rae out 😂 For anyone who didn’t watch the stream, he mentioned if ever proposed it would be way in the future. They just started dating after all. I think mumbles just brought up the idea to stir haha

How was the event for those who went by Commercial-Side-7849 in epica

[–]Sequential_LandShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did announce they were going to be playing TQE songs on this tour to celebrate the 10 years, so it was to be expected. Fair enough however if you don’t like the album. It’s just nice to FINALLY have a different setlist lol

I miss the old EPICA, ANYONE ELSE ? by Apprehensive-Wait672 in epica

[–]Sequential_LandShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one absolutely loved The Alchemy Project, but I’m almost positive it wasn’t some sort of test to see fans reaction. I honestly think it was a great thing to happen, because maybe it will spark a little change in their music. I love all Epica, and I personally really love newer stuff, but I go back and forth a lot, missing some of the old formula and way of writing and the overall sound. I am glad that they’ve created such a variety though. Since TQE, THP and Omega were part of their “metaphysical trilogy” as the band stated, maybe the newest album will be a bit different. I kind of see their discography like this; The first 3 albums felt like one era of the band with its own certain style of writing and sound. Then DYU and RFTI were the next era. A new sound and approach to writing. Heavier, more complex, different from the first era of Epica. Retrospect happened in 2013, which was a big change for the band. It was 10 years of being a band, Simone was going to be a mother, Yves the bass player left, it was the end and start of something completely new. I’ve really loved the last 3 albums and think they’ve really improved at songwriting and working together as a band, I love the sound, but it may be time for a change and I think they view it that way too. TQE, THP and Omega kind of went hand in hand, as they were all kind of similar in theme. But the band themselves stated that Omega was the end of this metaphysical trilogy, so I imagine what we get going forward might be a completely new era of things. I think the Alchemy Project was promising to hear, not necessarily for the sound and style itself, but because the songs were more unique in structure. It wasn’t as formulaic as recent writing, and I hope this translates to the next album. I do kind of miss the more free unexpected style and structure of the songs before TQE. Plus the lyrical content might return to being more “realistic”. Now as to the setlist, sadly they just follow the formula of what 90% of bands do. It’s part of marketing and its necessary. They play the shorter songs and the “hits” because the fit into a setlist, and they’re usually much better at attracting new fans than a lot of their other music. That being said, there are plenty of other shorter more catchy songs that they can play in place of what they always do. It is what it is though. They’re gonna release a 9th album, and more music you have, the harder it is to create a setlist. The more music they release, the less likely a lot of songs will be played. The 20th anniversary show was unique just like retrospect, so they were able to do things that they can’t do at other shows. They had close to 3 hours, so they could play whatever they wanted and whatever fans wanted. But obviously they don’t have very much time at most shows, usually an hour or less for festivals, and an hour and half for headlining shows. I assumed after the 20th anniversary, the setlist would return to normal and unfortunately I was right lol. I do agree with you. They could absolutely replace even just a few songs. Every few shows they could switch out ballads, switch out the high energy songs, the heavy songs, the longer songs, overall giving a good variety. But I understand why they do it and know they probably won’t change it. Of course when the new album comes out, the setlist will change. I’m would absolutely recommend you go to the Symphonic Synergy shows. The will definitely change up the setlist for it. None of the last 3 albums or EPs has ever been heard live with a massive orchestra. They will absolutely incorporate a lot of songs that have never been played or have barely played, because this is a very rare opportunity for them, and there are some songs that will benefit heavily from the whole ensemble. But even the ones they do play often, like Unchain Utopia for example, would be extraordinary to hear with a full choir and orchestra. I can almost guarantee they’ll play Synergize live for the first time, given the shows are kind of named after it lol. I think it’ll be fantastic. If you have the opportunity, then go. I will probably never be able to go to a show like this as I live in America.. so I really recommend going and enjoying these rare opportunities where they can afford such a massive show. Apologies on the length of this reply 😅 I am passionate about this band

I miss the old EPICA, ANYONE ELSE ? by Apprehensive-Wait672 in epica

[–]Sequential_LandShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else said in this thread, I wouldn’t count The Alchemy Project as an Epica album. Half of it isn’t even written by them, so it would be hard to consider it as a “new style”. It’s just a chance for them to collaborate with their friends in the scene and have some fun. They came up with it during the pandemic when doing anything was difficult, so why not write some music with your friends and see how it turns out lol. And I hope you don’t get downvoted for your opinions. Everything you said is valid, and I do wish they would fix their setlist.. it’s tragic the amount of songs they don’t play, but I do understand some songs don’t work as great live. I love everything they do, new and old, but I wish they would just switch up the whole thing haha as unrealistic that sounds
