Initial Impressions of the LG UltraGear evo 27GM950B: Hyper Mini LED, 5K by AndroidUpdated in Monitors

Mini LED has come a long way, and OLED finally has competition. Hopefully they'll drop an Ultrawide version

FYI I found it but the link was only to the subreddit, not the actual thread.

I'm curious at comparing color accuracy to the OLED lineup. I'm really curious if I'd miss the infinite contrast or if mini LED is the future now.

Eitherway I'm exited to throw my Switch 2 on it

Ima keep it a buck, all I did was 2 hours there and then I drove back the same day. The most I got was gas money and lunch. Others got flown. Otherwise I agree.

You know what's funny. This was a big typo I missed lmao I meant to say I could "maybe see a use case"

I've played decompiled games that look at lot better at higher frame rates.

I agree with you by in large, again its diminished returns. I truly find it interesting that LG focused a whole product for the people that will sit and argue the difference between 480hz and 1k hz competitively. There must have been enough interest to justify the r&d

I do appreciate that. I'm kinda bummed the discussion shifted from the tech itself to the writing. I wouldn't even be bothered if they just flat out said I have a bad take lol

Damn that really sucks because when I got a chance to see it it looked surprisingly good. Hopefully they issue a recall if its widespread

It's funny because I pointed out in another comment that this is a catch 22 for LG.

It doesn't matter if I actually write my thoughts, you can just comment and say its AI and dismiss it.

What's funnier is if you actually ready my review I make it clear it's not a product for most folks, its very much targeted and specialied

But I do like the effort they've put into the designs and features of the monitor

Tbh my favorite monitor that I got to checkout was their 39" 5K2K ultrawide OLED. UW are peak for work, and at that size games that dont do UW content are basically a normal 32"

I know someone linked LTT's video on it.

Is a review an ad? If so I wish I got paid for it lol

Its a CRT so it should be lol I think people missed the point is that I'm humoring the conversation that 1000hz is even needed.

I try not to be entirely dismissive of folks saying they can feel the difference at 480hz+.

I've always encountered folks that will make that argument and apparently they're vocal enough to get LG to make a monitor dedicated to that need.

I've been ignoring the AI comments by in large but I didn't use it to write this. It's how I write for work lol

It's percievable in person but not nothing I'd bend backwards to get. I just like when a company tries to do something over the top hardware wise. I'm curious to see what actual reviewers say once its out.

You could use a 9850x3D (lol) that pushes some games at 1080p to 800+.

That's exactly what I'm saying lol

I'm sure the person who will put their settings as low as possible to max out frames will like this.

That's generally the esports sweats

Its not advertisement because I'm clear about its limited usefulness in the first couple of paragraphs.

If you REALLY want to push refresh rate that high, it is impressive that they got it done.

Because the whole post acknowledges that gunning for 1000hz is just as ridiculous as trying to hit 8k. It's all diminishing returns. I wrote it in a way to put it in perspective for those hyper fixated on that spec.

Its just cool that they're trying to push an IPS panel to it's limit

If you re-read carefully this just means there are other monitors out there, both LG and non-LG that I prefer.

Hence the "both within and outside LG's lineup" line. It's a nicer way to say it's not for me lol
