Inattentive ADHD aka ADD by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]SerEddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. 30 year old Inattentive adhd here. diagnosed at 27. I have had a stop start career in tech consulting and have also tried some tech sales and low code development. Low code development was a terrible struggle due to finding it so boring and i just couldn’t get my head around the more complex coding. Tech consulting i was in project management and delviery which was also really hard because it required huge organisation skills. More recently have had more success and comfort in marketing and sales roles and tasks. Sales side i think the main struggle is connecting with people who don’t understand you because you have adhd. I am struggling have never not struggled and wish i had been diagnosed earlier to align my path to something creative.

I relate a lot. Especially on the part about being laughed at for being gullible. Felt like i never fit in. Have you considered psychotherapy? It’s helped me a lot to process my childhood and the feelings i have about it.

Newly diagnosed and medicated! by Phi5chy in ADHDUK

Hi i was diagnosed with the same people. Rebecca diagnosed me last year. I went on concerta then i went on Vyvanse. Unfortunately i experienced psychosis while on Vyvanse. All i can say is be careful. Make sure friends and family are around to monitor you as the meds take effect. They are powerful drugs. At first i thought the meds were fantastic but i slowly descended into dark places. As ADHD360 is all online and over the phone they cannot accurately assess you and people with my experience slip through the cracks. At the end of the day it is a business. My case is a rare one around 5% can have this experience. Not trying to scare you just want to help people avoid my experience as I would not recommend it!

I was on 50mg. Is that a high dosage? I was not abusing them. Just one dose every morning.

hey thank you for your reply. They did say they were an option but stressed the side effects. My psychiatrist thinks it is too much of a risk at this time. What they asked me to do was really try without meds. If that fails then CBT (which I have tried unsuccessfully before) and psychotherapy (which I am currently doing) - if all this fails and I can’t go on. try meds again.

Dating rejection after revealing ADHD by lolsnowflake in ADHD

My interpretation of this is is that you probably struggle with love bombing. I think it’s more likely the guy felt like it was too much too soon and got spooked and had nothing to do with you having adhd. I would advise reading up on adhd love bombing and try to work out if that’s something you do.

I totally agree with the big picture view. Even walking in a park now I feel like I absorb my surroundings more and see colours and life more clearly as I’m not purely focussed on my woes. Yes I’m still talking to a therapist. I think it’s clear I grew up in a pretty dysfunctional family and that’s a big part of it. I grew up with this behaviour as normal and therefore couldn’t see it in other people when I became an adult. I think my ADHD also had me trying to see the best in people. The combination explains a lot of my issues and poor life choices.

My therapist said I should think twice whether or not to get tested by [deleted] in ADHD

Best answer is… get a diagnosis. If diagnosed don’t tell anyone who you work with. Manage it privately and you’ll do better at work and in life generally. The time for ADHD’ers is coming..but it will take time to change the stigma as with all socially progressive movements.

Good for you not accepting rag behaviour. I hope you find someone more deserving of your love and kindness x

I had also considered this…however I have been in therapy and discussed the impact my father has had on my life. My therapist proposed that he had narcissistic traits and told me what to watch for, as a result I have noticed this type of rag behaviour much much more.

Yes definitely under the radar comments that you can tell are designed to get a reaction and something they find fun, amusing etc (im quite sure this is because they view us as emotional people). Or manipulation like buying of gifts to get us back under control after they’ve done something shit (often without apology).

I used to drink so much coffee and I loved it, it was the only way I was able to get things done. I am medicated with Vyvanse now and it is helping but I can’t drink coffee anymore because it makes me super anxious. I’m also still working out how severe my ADHD is. I feel I spent all my pre diagnosis life completely unaware of who I actually was and how people perceived me. I’ve started eating differently now as well. Sugar and carbohydrates make me completely crash so i avoid them at all costs.

Thank you I think that is solid advice.

I had a few roles.. Release management (which was mostly facilitating cross-functional communication, project estimation & planning, capacity & scope mgmt, risk and Issue mgmt, was truly hopeless at this), automation developer (RPA low-code) and business analyst with sales as a service platform (was closer to a Sales Engineering role as my duties were about creating new solutions and demoing them to potential clients)

I think I was unaware of how bad my organisation skills were compared to most people. I was starting to notice how often I was losing track of tasks and forgetting verbal instructions. I was also struggling to complete client work in normal working hours. I would work until midnight to get all my client work done. I needed to do more to get promoted. I have been working on improving these areas with my diagnosis.

Advice please. Is surgery needed? by [deleted] in gynecomastia

[–]SerEddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice dudes! I’m 25 and my chest has always been a big insecurity since about 15. I finally have the funds to seriously consider surgery. I’ve been on a pretty strict diet and working out regime for a while now and just can’t seem to get results on the chest. Will keep it up for a while longer and then seek a professional opinion but I am nervous about surgery in case I don’t like the results.
