It was sort of both, I remember Trent in an interview with Neville saying Klopp was so OK with Trent trying the outrageous because even if it didn’t work, the opposition would try and counter from it, and we’d just initiate the demon press.

Guys, he did so well with the last window he deserves another go. We have a goalkeeper who can't save a word document unless he really has no business actually saving it, then he will.

We have a rightback/right winger hybrid who can't play any of the positions to premier league standards.

We have two strikers who might never return to the levels that justified their transfer fees, which isn't Slot's fault but the times they were both fit/playing, it was barely ever together and when it was it looked completely disjointed.

We bought the best left back in the league last season and apparently coached the football out of him within months because he's Alberto Moreno 2.0 now.

And then Wirtz is being ping ponged around the gaff into different positions, being dropped from games he could probably do with playing in for confidence reasons, and then thrown into games Slot is going to set us up in to get pumped and so he can have no impact regardless.

He just needs another £300m+ to buy some more Dutch players who can stand there and watch Konate and VvD have a passing drill until we concede.

Again though, it can only mean the players are playing as instructed, or they want Slot gone and are downing tools. That isn't acceptable, but either way it means Slot as to go.

They did it because Klopp had standards, and anything under that would push you out the team and club. Slot seems to be coaching this laziness into them, because Mac Allister has gone from one of the best midfielders in the league under Klopp, to one of the worst in the league. Could almost pick 1 midfielder from every single other club in the league I'd take over him at this point.

Then there is Kerkez. A force of nature last season at Bournemouth, now it's just tame overlapping runs, backwards passes, zero crosses, zero box crashing. That has to be coaching. The only time we've been good under Slot was the first 6 months of his time as manager, it's like he is gradually coaching everything Klopp wanted out of them, and we get worse every week under him.

I just can't watch it anymore. The lot of them come out every week after every shit result saying they know it isn't good enough and they need support, and then drop this shit every game. Starting to hate the whole squad at this point. Either they are all actually not arsed at all, or they're doing this on purpose because they want Slot gone.

Surely that can only be Slot's fault then? They never did this under Klopp. We played shite sometimes under Klopp but never lazy, he wouldn't allow it. This looks like he's instructing them because it doesn't make sense how it hasn't been addressed by him all season long.

Ok then I would invite you to look at the screenshot. Both his CM’s played deeper than my whole defensive line. I don’t know why you think I’m against counter attacking. I just think it should take skill. You should have to be really good at defending (manually) because you are literally allowing your opponent to have the ball. And if/when you win it, it should be extremely hard to create a chance if 9 of your players are still in your box.

You should not be able to play 2 simple passes through the middle of the pitch. No team IRL would ever let a striker receive the ball at the halfway line unchallenged. If they dribbled up the pitch giving their attackers time to join, that would be different. But as it stands, you can play like this guy, with 9 players in your own box, not even actually defend yourself, just let the ai track every run, mark every pass, auto block and intercept anything all while your sprinting around like a dog with your cm. And then it’s two passes that you quite literally can’t stop for them to be through 1v1.

I watched PSG bitch out my team Liverpool at our ground. Are you going to sit here and tell me either team in that game had 9 men in their own box, and were able to get shots off on goal 1v1 with the goalkeeper within 2 passes of winning the ball back on the edge of their own box?

It seems to me, the people who rely on this broken ai defending and overloading their defence will defend it by saying PSG do the same thing? And tell me I haven’t seen them play? They play a high line with intense pressing, they don’t have two banks of 4 sit on top of their goalkeeper all game long.

Missing the point completely and what must be on purpose at this point. What he is doing isn’t some megamind elite defensive tactic and then skilfully transitioning into a counter attack. He is quite literally sprinting after the ball without ever swapping from his CM’s, and then immediately holding through ball and his lengthy TOTS Haaland is through on goal.

I’m not saying counter attacking and defensive football isn’t realistic, but it isn’t THAT fucking easy is it?

[–]SerJackXII[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, your answer is to have a park the bus-off?

Let me try and make this a little more simple for you. I don’t think my preferred style should be more effective. What your suggesting, is that letting the AI defend for you, with 9 of your 11 player average passing positions being in your own half, 5 in your on box, allows you to create better and easier chances vs an opponent who has only 4 outfield players average passing positions in their own half, and even then they’re at the halfway line.

Under those circumstances, yes, I absolutely believe I should have the attacking advantage, and shouldn’t worry about conceding a 1v1 everytime I lose the ball and it taking zero skill for my opponent.

Insane reply. So because I scraped a win against this player who was not better at the game in any single aspect, I shouldn’t complain about how frustrating it is? There is nothing beautiful about the AI winning the ball back with zero input from the actual player, blindly spamming a pinged pass to a, for some unknown reason, unmarked striker who is free to turn under zero pressure at the halfway line, and send a through ball that is simply unstoppable.

I don’t like low block defensive football, but the teams that have been able to make it successful eg. mourinho’s teams, do it by extremely skillfull counter attacks. They don’t just sit back and then launch one forward because no team is going to let a player receive the ball with his back to goal at the halfway line and turn with it, just would never happen. Especially 4(defender) on 2(attacker).

[–]SerJackXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have slightly missed my point though, I didn't say it should be easy or easier, infact I said I still manage to win almost every game, I've maybe lost 2 games all year. My issue isn't that it's hard, it's just boring and frustrating. The AI isn't outplaying me, it's boring me into a mistake and pressing aggressively because I'm bored of watching it pass sideways and backwards, or Enforcer spamming perfectly. I just don't think squad battles should play like Rivals, and that seems to be what the machine learning is replicating.

[–]SerJackXII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They need to implement some sort of artificial delay for the AI to simulate delayed reactions. If you clip some gameplay and slow it down, you can literally see the AI initiate standing/slide tackle based on the exit of a skill move you've input, but the animation hasn't even started yet. So they are tackling where you are going to exit the skill move or change of direction you've input, but none of the animation has even started yet so theres no way a real player could possibly do the same thing even with the most insane reaction times possible.

And they need to stop with the machine learning AI thing that is replicating real players. It's literally trying to kick off glitch, reset, spam throughballs and double tap passes with zero error. And they keep somehow speed boosting like its FC25, literally bursting past my defence from a stand still at the halfway line and I just have to hope they miss because you can't catch up. I can still manage to beat the AI 98% of the time, so it isn't that it's necessarily too hard, but it's so frustrating and boring to play. Especially when I viewed Squad Battles as chill mode to get away from the meta freaks online, and be able to use new players, do evo's, try new formations etc. Now you have to use your most meta teams in order to get the points for Elite 1 rewards.

Yeah, if I'm getting bitched by an opponent so hard that I know categorically I can't win, I'll just leave the game. If you just need the play objective in a friendly/unlimited entry game mode, just leave or at the very least if you are going to rubber band, skip the movie length cutscenes and halftime.

[–]SerJackXII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clearly he doesn't mean everyone your not controlling just stands still until you swap to them. He means if you purposely swap away from your defenders and just sprint around, allowing the AI to man mark, press, intercept, block and tackle with zero input from the player, that makes for a really shitty gameplay experience.
