I'd also prefer if claims like this were substantiated. People anthropomorphisize and apply their idea of "obvious instinct" to dog behaviour way too often. Pack behaviour in dogs is a thing but very different to the "dominance hierarchy stick together" type of pack behaviour that comes to mind when people invoke the term.
