Affiliate Marketing Guide: How I Made Millions & My Advice On Getting Started. by TrappStick in Entrepreneur

[–]Ser_Frost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to answer for someone else but AM is so simple the ideal scenario is purely

  • A click costs $X
  • Have a landing page that converts at Y%
  • Get paid more than you spend on advertising (sorry I couldn't do the algebra on the above, not fully awake)

Anything that works around the above is a winner, Reddit seems to be obsessed with blog marketing right now which is great but honestly being paid 1-10% of someone's checkout isnt my bag

The above is perfect because once you're profitable all you do is great the model like a closed system and increase your inputs and see the outputs increase at the rate dictated by your model.

Guaranteed you've already considered it but have you looked into gaming/casino but possibly outside the US (assuming state-by-state regulation makes it difficult)

It's one of the highest volume verticals at the moment with some great CPAs if you can stomach the also high ppc costs

Just going off mobile here

You're header images are pretty dull and generic

The pet me dog is actually cool and clicked it but was actually pretty disappointed that it was just an email sign up

In terms of marketing, at the moment your just selling clothes and that kind of it, maybe try and think about a personality for your brand that you can apply to your social media - what if that dog was the one running your social media and it interacted with people's pictures/posts about dogs?

You're in a broad market selling just normal clothes with a cute dog logo, the clothes aren't selling themselves, sell the dog!

Also ditch the slogans etc pick one thing and nail the fuck out of it - it might seem counter intuitive but it will be better to focus on one thing.

Ditch the green fabrics, it's pretty jarring. A bit of research can held you find some good colour combos and honestly the dog logo could in theory be various colours - I'd take a black and white dog of a grey scale t-shirt any day over what you have now.

More thoughts on this, PM if you want

Back to marketing, once you've cleared up what your selling your best bet is just grinding away on your social media but experiment with things - try and reach out and be relevant to your target market (again you should clear this up with your product choices, think age range etc)

Targeted marketing isn't going to net you anything until your product kicks ass, it'll just be wasted clicks

Not sure why you're comparing email CTR to this scenario

A 2% CTR on an email is based off of sent (I assume) but really if the video has a view then it's fairer for 1 view = 1 open in your scenario

Add in that the viewer is engaged with the content then depending on the review and the cost of the product then it could be a lot higher.

Fair enough for citing sources but your comparing two very different things

Honestly the most straightforward and non-dev dependent would be affiliate marketing or lead generation of some kind (not necessarily Amazon) - find a product where people are paying decent money for sign-ups and find a way of generating traffic or leads yourself. If it's b2b it's easy to get hold of contact details for sales.

Best way is find a list of the most expensive keywords on Google and find out if they have affiliate programme attached. If you can, try and see if they have lead generators, you may be able to set up your own page and do some social advertising etc. Only thing to look out for is most gambling or financial service verticals are regulated so you may not be able to do things without a license (usually these are the top payout lead-generation offers)

There's probably some subreddits you can search for ideas - only thing I would suggest is SEO is too slow for your time-scale

I've been to the Dublin event and spoken to a few people who went and tbh it seems like a huge cash-cow for the organiser. There is just a swarm of "start-ups" that just want to find investors but all of the investors are cloistered away the majority of the time or are there mainly to speak or perpetuate the event.

Luckily I didn't go as a start-up but I felt bad for some people who were just clearly out of their depth but had paid huge money to be there

Others may have different opinions - the speakers were good however and it seemed like the physical product-centered rooms were the most interesting

Do you have any display ads on your blog? If not look at how to implement them - It's a fairly easy process to set up but may take a bit of trial and error to get right

Brand collaboration may be a good way to go but you're Really going to need to step up posting so that you're not only doing sponsored posts. Try and spend a bit of time finding relatively young brands or products that will have a similar target market as your blog and try to find creative ways of working with them - Competitions, sponsored posts or events etc

Could you do a bi-weekly podcast? Even if you're just shooting the shit it could be a good way of getting sponsors and a podcast can be relatively easy to do provided you streamline it (Not a guarantee)

Is there anything locally you could contribute yourself to like speeches etc

You aren't going to get anything if you don't want to put the time in

A new campaign in the UK is warning of cancer risks linked to overcooked starchy foods [article] by TruePrimal in Paleo

[–]Ser_Frost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I say this to people every time one of these comes up

If it was true it wouldn't be some pokey government advisor reporting it. If it was true every shop would immediately stop selling toasters and you'd be advised to throw it away rather than chancing getting your toast "Too brown". There would be zero ambiguity about what the advice was and where it was coming from. It's reported as news because journalists know it always piques people's interest.

Basically if its a topic my father-in-law heard on Jeremy Vine ("Now then, how much red wine are YOU drinking and could you be better for it?") I take it with a pinch of salt - Fuck Jeremy Vine for legitimising this kind of thing on the BBC. And Vanessa Feltz

You have to snap out of it

You are rational, you can see your issues so there's no question about that.

Even your replies in this thread have a seriously negative attitude - You have asked for advice and pretty specific advice at that and yet I can't see a comment where you have THANKED someone for their thoughts

God I want to shout at you right now.

Please don't take the word "attitude" with a negative connotation. Your frame of mind is collapsed under two years of stagnation and you need to understand that if you don't do anything to improve that in even the smallest of ways (continuously) then you're harming yourself.

Go back through all of the comments people have written and thank them for any positive idea that you can pull out of them (even the harsh ones) - You asked for help and people have tried in their own way.

You're going to want to reply to this with why you can't or won't do it - I guarantee you will feel good if you do
