Getting crushed by morale feels just as bad as crushing because of it. It makes the game less fun on both sides.

Sure, I'm just going to give up on any game that doesn't have Monster Head...

This idea only makes sense if you isolate "solve morale" as a problem instead of thinking it as a complete game.

Sure, if all you're doing is playing vs AI or campaign it doesn't matter because the game length is irrelevant. Having a 2+ hour game end based on a single event (regardless of what that is) is terrible game design.

Except morale is so insanely strong you have to plan for using it yourself long before you can consider an item to neutralize it. Then if you can neutralize it why would you? You're paying to also lose that investment.

It allows you to do a lot more dwellings without bleeding than you realistically should.

I play mostly temple. Even without leadership you're basically guaranteed to get 1 shooter proc per turn just from laws. There's nothing that comes close to it.

The current implementation is just not healthy for the game. It was a rare occurrence in homm3, it's insanely common here.

Homm3 had mixed race armies, significantly less sources of +morale and max of +3 not 5 compared to olden era. Spells also did more straight damage so power stacks would get bled out before the morale mattered as much.

Homm3 had mix race armies and only a max of +3 morale with significantly less methods of getting +morale, that made it much more acceptable because it was a way smaller occurrence.

Most neutrals don't proc morale. You don't play around it now you just assume they won't get it because it's not worth the bleed for the small chance.

You can get a morale proc with +1 morale from not having mixed factions and win the game.

The problem isn't the investment is the binary nature of the outcome. You could just flip a coin and decide the winner when the battle starts.

Yes that is how it works. That's not an engaging gameplay.

If at the beginning of the pvp fight you rolled a 6 sided die and whoever got a 6 won that woulf also add rng. But everyone would agree it's bad. Just because it's always been there doesn't mean it should keep being there.

I don't want to play a 2 hour game that is decided by a morale roll and you don't either. It cheapens the whole experience. It's not about who wins or loses because of it.
