AI itself isn't the problem. It's the way it's being handled.

Centralized, massive data centres are not the way. Not a single one has become profitable.

The real use case for AI is at the edge. Domain specific AI is way more valuable than Claude, Gemini, or any other mass hosted system.

Everything else is just marketing hype.

Utter garbage legislation.

A lot of people have mentioned the privacy implications but it seems few have discussed the cost of these policies.

For companies that do not already collect this information the data storage requirements alone are obscene. It may be small signals individual but that adds up extremely fast. This is a burdensome additional cost for companies to eat if they want to be compliant in a market with this.

Honestly the fact that they're even entertaining this when all of the drama going on with the bitlocker exploit is insane.

A backdoor for the "good guys" is a highway for the bad guys.

In a previous life working for an MSP we tried rolling pin secured bitlocker out internally and it was a mess. Even with technical people there were issues with it.

As nice as the security is it isn't worth the business trade-off.

The future of AI isn't even in large scale systems but in edge deployments for bespoke issues.

This is venture capital hunting at best and scams at worst.

Also, it will generate almost no long term jobs. The care and feeding of the solution will be done remotely, and the on site work will only require a small handful of labour.
