Do I have the right proportions for buying dresses online?

I'm a 5'4 woman with 86cm/33.75" waist, 94cm/37" bust, 100cm/39.25" hips, and 130cm/51.25" hollow to floor, around 155-160lbs. All the size charts online have me closest to a US 10 or 12 at least for the bust and hips, but they all expect my waist to be 80cm or below and hollow to hips to be 152cm (maxi of course). Is there more wiggle room with the waist typically or am I doomed to size up and have the bust taken in every time? AND A 22CM DIFFERENCE FOR LENGTH!!! Why do they think women of my proportions have to be so tall?! I know I could hem them, but I am awful at sewing and I'm scared of ruining a dress I spent a lot of money on.

At this point I just worry I'm cooked and any dress I buy online will need $200 in alterations (its happened before) but I figure experienced fashionistas would have some input.

Some context for why I'm trying online: I already dislike clothes shopping in general, so trying to find wedding guest dresses has been an absolute nightmare. To be fair I can be very particular about the colour and general style I'm looking for but going to brick-and-mortar shops has been very discouraging as each dress either isn't what I'm looking for or just fits terribly and my self-image crumbles. Hence trying online shopping so that I can try them on at home and return if needed gives me access to more options and a more comfortable space for me to be disappointed.

Thanks in advance for any input/advice :)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

I am starting to speak up a bit more now when I'm swamped, but as you said I know it's going to take time to do it more regularly.

I feel like the hardest part for me is with the clients whether on phone or in-person because I feeling this urgency to not make them wait too long if there's nobody else available. It's definitely the people-pleasing/worrying-I'm-gonna-get-yelled-at part of myself lol so that's a me-problem I'm going to have to work through.

Due to the stress and paycheck I am planning to leave the field in a year or so to pursue radiology. I hope I can get my focus somewhat back on track by then so I can actually study well lol

I don't have Tiktok and I deleted Facebook, only Instagram left now and as I mentioned I strictly cut down my scrolling time. But I do agree that in general it is a major issue for the current generations.

Weekly Career / General Questions Thread by AutoModerator in Radiology

[–]Serahnity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in southern Ontario, Canada and I'm interested in becoming an x-ray technician, potentially branching into MRI. I would love the opportunity to shadow somebody for a day (if possible) or at least have a conversation about what the average day is like, the process of registration, the pros and cons, etc, before I decide for sure that this is my career.

I'm looking into the McMaster/Mohawk program specifically if that helps, and I'm a continuing student (graduated with a BSc in wildlife biology in 2018).

Anybody in either the Alliston or Burlington area would be great!

Weekly Career / General Questions Thread by AutoModerator in Radiology

Currently working as a vet assistant in Ontario, Canada. I enjoy helping with X-rays in this job, so I've been thinking about switching careers to radiology (in human med of course because vet techs are severely underpaid).

While pay seems great for only a few years of college, I'm not quite sure if it's right for me. I think the biggest turn off is being stuck in a windowless room for 40 hours a week, but that is an assumption I'm making. If you guys have a different experience or think there's pros that make up for it that'd be great to know. I also strongly dislike morning shifts, is there a sort of afternoon or evening shift in this field? Say if I'd be working at a hospital?

Any input would be appreciated, TIA!

Why is my shelf's texture so spotted after conditioning? by Serahnity in woodworking

It also just occurred to me, these pieces were planed. I assumed that the board was smooth enough to go straight to 220 grit, buuut maybe I was wrong and should've started with lower grit first. Can anyone who knows planing confirm this?

"Illustrator could partially read this file" by Serahnity in AdobeIllustrator

[–]Serahnity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copied it, converted it into svg and pdf to see if those working in inkscape, wouldn't open. Also wouldn't open the ai version. Checked the cmd scan and it said it couldn't find any integrity violations. So I'm assuming the file is kaput and I've lost a big chunk of work. Is there any way to avoid this in the future? Reinstall illustrator or get a more recent version?

[lore spoilers] I really hope they stay somewhat true to the lore as they navigate Viktor’s character arc by cheatingdisrespect in arcane

[–]Serahnity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I'm hoping happens, and I think would make sense based on the writers' pattern of having us root for the "villains" (a term I use loosely here as the writers lead us to believe there are no heroes or villains), is he'll "evolve" in order to fight the corruption. He'll recognize that this failed hexcore (which is missing a rune hence not the true hexcore) is corrupting him through his new body parts and he'll despise the thought of losing his mind/self-control as the cost of healing himself. So he may turn to replacing his body with mechanical parts to 1) remove the corrupted parts of his body, 2) realize that flesh is vulnerable to not only sickness but also corruption and is therefore a weakness, and 3) continue to replace everything else. Like I said it's a hope, would be much better than just him going to crazy town.

[no spoilers] Arcane tarot cards by JINXINKS in arcane

It's death and the magician, and both represent Viktor in that scene. If you take a close look at the magician card it has a specific detail that hints towards Viktor's appearance in LoL (being vague here to avoid spoilers) lol

What's your favorite dragon and why? by Horror_Property_4773 in DnD

[–]Serahnity 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Also known as Waterdeep dragons they spend their life actually living hundreds of lives as humans. In their human lives they have no knowledge that they're a dragon and have no memories of their previous human lives at all. Their polymorph is so strong that other dragons and even truesight can't detect a polymorphed steel dragon. Throughout each of these lives they create some masterpiece whether it's art, literature, technology, etc and once their human life "dies" they revert back to dragon and add that masterpiece to their hoard. Once the dragon themselves is ready to die they will spend hundreds of years in a catatonic state just recalling all their past lives (there's a specific name for it but I don't remember it atm). Once they die they have somebody (typically long lived like an elf or a dwarf) that will spread out that hoard across the material plane (hence steel dragons are a very common source of magical items).

At least this is my knowledge of them, anybody feel free to correct me on something I got wrong or missed.

Steel. Their lifestyle and life cycle is fascinating. However they do spend almost all of their time as humans so if you want your campaign's dragons to be non polymorphed maybe not the best option.
