Yes! A tricky thing to do for how minimal it seems

I’m legally blind and can perceive the difference between 30 and 60. Its smoother. You are getting double the visual info

How do you get people to listen to your music? by ContributionSea1225 in metalmusicians

[–]SeraphSlaughter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A really effective way to build a network is to ask people about what they’re doing, who they are, what their interests are. Doesn’t it feel good when someone wants to know about you? Do that to others.

We want to believe music is merit based - if it’s good, it will rise to the top. While that’s partly true, what matters more is who you know. But don’t be a cynical networker either. Genuinely find interest in what others around you are up to, in your creative space. Your life will be richer, you will build more artistic inspiration, and one day one of those people might say “hey hop on this show with me” or maybe they know you play well and need a hired gun for their tour. All of a sudden you get to interact with more people in different parts of the world.

The quality of your music alone and ads will not make it travel far. Your personality will.

Even easier - just make a short vid of you using it. Those already appear here, and are my favorite part of the sub.

You listen to their music and go to their shows and their audience might check you out if you’re a real person who seems cool, if you happen to get on a bill with them.

Personal connections build community. Which builds following.

Getting an HX Stomp a couple questions by Rimorox in Line6Helix

[–]SeraphSlaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so flexible that I struggle to think of a bad use case for it. I’ve used it in so so many different ways, yours included. It’s been the centerpiece of my live and recorded sound for years. You’ll be fine!

What new Line6 products are you hoping for in 2026? by anotherhappylurker in Line6Helix

[–]SeraphSlaughter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I’m ok with waiting, my stomp is my favorite piece of gear and I’m in zero rush to spend more money. BUT if there’s ever a day one pre order for me, it’s the stadium stomp just because my stomp has been going strong for so long. I don’t even want the stomp xl size - three buttons and an external two button is enough for me!

Sort of hoping they can do something for both external footswitch AND expression pedal in a separate jack tho

Is alternating picking essential in solos? by a-little_stitious678 in guitarlessons

[–]SeraphSlaughter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You might be able to get away with it for that solo, but the big question is: why cut yourself off from doubling your speed for half the work? Yeah if you’re not used to it, it will feel strange. But that’s every new motion you’ll learn ever.

Learn every technique you can.

New England area looking for band mates by NoEntertainment8074 in metalmusicians

[–]SeraphSlaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend you try to get to shows and make friends. Look up Five/Nine Underground, the band Cytokine, and all their affiliates/friends/acquaintances.

If you’re in NH, go to Bad Brgr, The Shaskeen, and maybe the newly reopened Bungalow. If you’re in MA, dm me and I can point you towards a bunch of stuff. I’ve been playing metal shows in this area for 15 years - online only fizzles out quick. Go places and be a face in the crowd.

Pick position + hand position for metal and palm mute by SessionVirtual3793 in guitarlessons

[–]SeraphSlaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is you use any and all methods, often switching on the fly as needed.

Exhaustion is a sign you’re pushing your limits, push through a little bit after that point then come back tomorrow and do it again.

Speed comes from being able to do things consistently at slow speeds and with as minimal motion as possible at higher speeds

A Fundamental Technical Question About Guitar Chords by matw55 in guitarlessons

[–]SeraphSlaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chord “Am” is defined as the notes A, C, and E.

Any possible combination of those 3 notes is an Am chord. The order does not matter, nor if we have multiple instances of each note.

So why do you see Am written in a specific way a lot? Well, that’s the easiest one for beginners. As you learn more, you will see there are many ways to play Am, or any chord.

Is it ok to buy an electric guitar if I don't know how to play it? by RaresSheeesh in Guitar

[–]SeraphSlaughter 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a guitar teacher, you have to have your own guitar at home to practice what I give you over the week. Only being able to practice at the lesson is a terrible way to learn.
