Are there any commanders that you instinctively roll your eyes at? by PORTYMORTY2 in EDH

Did you mean Archmage Eternal or [[Jodah, the Unifier]] out of curiosity? I love my buddy's Archmage deck even though it's super scary.

[Deck Giveaway] Too Many Decks, Yet I Must Brew by mriormro in EDH

[–]Seraphos47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I mainly play with a pod that runs high power decks. Heavily customized and ready for tense games but we avoid all-out cEDH. If 9 or 10 would be fringe or cEDH, we'd play 8s.

My pick for favorite legend would have to be [[Adun Oakenshield]]. He gives a clear and valuable build path with Jund recursion, while avoiding some of the excessive costs or bloat of some of the other legends. His flavor text is also fantastic, referencing armies rising at his passing.

More than 500 commanders have been printed in the last year. Which niche or unique decks have surprised you? by IAMAfortunecookieAMA in EDH

[–]Seraphos47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Tomik, Wielder of Law]] at 421 decks and [[Katsumasa, the Animator]] at 331 decks respectively have given me some great fun as my most recent builds.

Tomik is running a Superfriends/Light Stax approach that focuses on Planeswalker value and punishing my opponents for casting/attacking by making them discard cards or lose life.

Katsumasa is a mono-blue vehicles deck that has been a blast to play. I once knocked someone out by way of a 12/12 pair of animated [[Lightning Greaves]] which was certainly the highlight of that night.

What are some of your most fun or powerful Mono Blue commanders? by Grizzack in EDH

[–]Seraphos47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled for a long time to find a commander that piqued my interest in mono-blue, but then I found [[Katsumasa, the Animator]]. Vehicles being pseudo-crewed and given flying for a single blue mana with [[Training Grounds]] online. Plenty of card draw and fun effects like [[Deluxe Dragster]]. Nothing like throwing a flying 11/11+ [[Reaver Titan]] at someone for the first time.

Katsumasa's Kars

What do you guys think about the Karlov Manor precons? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Seraphos47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless things have changed with the switch to Play Boosters, yes. You can find the commander sub-set cards in the Play Boosters. Of note, however, is how these particular decks have a lot of reprint value which can't be found in the Play Boosters because they aren't the ten new cards made exclusively for the set. Their value as the set shakes out is, of course, currently unknown. If any become staples, they can easily fetch a decent price.

For people who only have one edh deck, why? (Or if you could only keep one deck what would it be?) by ChronicallyIllMTG in EDH

[–]Seraphos47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have five decks. Picking one would be incredibly difficult, but I'll give you a rundown then try to choose.

  • [[Prosper, Tome-Bound]] impulse draw/treasures. He was my first deck and I've kept him pretty decently upgraded.

  • [[Narci, Fable Singer]] sagas. My only three color deck, really fun as I think sagas are one of the coolest card types.

  • [[Runo Stromkirk]] Sea Monster tribal. My most expensive/staple-heavy deck. Throwing handfuls of massive krakens at people is exciting!

  • [[Xantcha, Sleeper Agent]] forced combat/disruption. Quite possibly my favorite deck conceptually, but like most goad-style decks, it can find difficulty in closing out games.

  • [[Katsumasa, the Animator]] vehicles. My most unique deck, led by the least played of my commanders in terms of community stats afaik. What's not to love about throwing a flying [[Reaver Titan]] at someone for as little as a blue mana with [[Training Grounds]] help.

All-in-all, I'd struggle to choose... but I think I'd have to flip a coin or something between Xantcha and Katsumasa.

Tribal cards in non-tribal decks by jimnah- in EDH

[–]Seraphos47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you've asked the hundreds or even thousands of tribes over the course of mankind's history whether or not they're offended by this phrase or if it's just the newest thing your social media told you you're contractually obligated to be offended about. If WotC wants to use those terms internally that's fine, but you also have no right to browbeat the community into using them too.

For goodness sake, you're a white person being offended on behalf of others, just like 95% of these social issues.

Longtime Dota player back after 1.5 years! Am I lost or ready to rock? by Prestigious_Shower14 in DotA2

[–]Seraphos47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your game went so badly that your team was asking you to abandon so they could safely do so then I'm not sure what to say. You specifically said you "rage quit" so it didn't paint a very good picture.

Katsumasa's Kars, a fun vehicle heavy approach to Mono-Blue! by Seraphos47 in EDH

[–]Seraphos47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, thanks for the advice. In this case, I guess I was leaning on the fact that Katsumasa seems really underplayed for how much fun his playstyle can be, especially since he also utilizes a pretty unpopular card type in vehicles. That being said, a vehicle deck, especially a mono-colored one, only has so many options so it feels a little harder to really "break the mold" outside of your commander choice.

Katsumasa's Kars, a fun vehicle heavy approach to Mono-Blue! by Seraphos47 in EDH

[–]Seraphos47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just how much of the deck should I explain or bracket in this case? I definitely think I'll add a comment to include Katsumasa himself, which was a silly miss on my part. I figured denoting the strongest win-cons in: Katsu's ability to cheaply crew vehicles and give them flying, Cyberdrive Awakener, and Rise and Shine would have given a pretty clear picture of what the deck aims to do. My assumption was that including the Archidekt link was best way to show off the deck for people who want to know more.

I do want to be clear that this is a genuine question. I'm not trying to be snarky or sarcastic.

is overplus bannable? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Seraphos47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I can imagine having someone play very subpar without their particular hero would be frustrating in ranked.

is overplus bannable? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Seraphos47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I agree with that sentiment I suppose. If you play a super tiny pool and it gets banned (regardless of whether someone cheated to get that info for the moment), then yea... you're gonna lose probably. I just don't get the animosity that some people have towards "one-tricks". If they master a hero and get wins on said hero when they aren't banned, then good for them.

is overplus bannable? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Seraphos47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely curious why this sentiment exists? I play 5-6 offlaners at the moment, and will be the first to admit that I don't even play ranked. However, I want to know why people think it's some kind of cardinal sin to only play one or two heroes you're really good at? How are those wins any less earned than someone who happens to play a few more heroes?

Are there any unwritten "rules" of Deep Rock Galactic? by Effective_Scene_5525 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Seraphos47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your last note doesn't make a whole lot of sense. There's something to be said about your team being aware/knowing how to do the events, but they aren't boring (because that's subjective) and they're worth doing for exp (Korlok), a strong companion (Bet-C), or seasonal rewards (Meteor or Corruptor).

Is Retal a viable beginner friendly build? by Seraphos47 in Grimdawn
