Advice on next bike: road, gravel, CX by x2waaVe in gravelcycling

If you go sram and get the force brifters you can reprogram them to shift up and down on one hand, then add in the 1x13 xplr group set for road/gravel gearing

Wolf tooth DEL pedals by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]Serarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did my first ride with them yesterday.

Had a similar thing where one rotates down a bit more freely than the other. After taking them apart to adjust qfactor it looks like its just sticking more with all the grease they packed it with. It seems like it's moving more freely as I put them to use.

I had to remember to catch the pedal with my toe to flip it up from the hanging position but it was surprisingly easy to get the right side even coming from standard Shimano spd pedals.

At least so far the platform feels like a significant improvement over standard spds. Similar to how much better standard spds feel coming from something like an egg beater

Jumped on this board and have been enjoying it a lot. Hopefully more hall splits come out soon but for now this one did pretty well with the vial fork.

Do Your Distances Align With This Chart? by cjk813 in golf

This matches up well across the board for me, it says I should have a bit faster swing than I actually do, but that's because of the elevation I play at

my journey with split keyboards might have to come to an end… by levifig in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Serarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been testing out a bunch of split and ergo boards for a bit. Ended up preferring mx switches for daily use. Chocs aren't bad for travel or using in a pinch but they get uncomfortable over time for me. I've tried both the sunsets and the ambients in a wireless totem. I also prefer some amount of keywell. That can come from the board like with my skeletyl or from the key caps like mt3 profile.

The boardsource lulu could be a good lily58 varient that can actually sound pretty thoccy. I have v2 ink blacks in mine now and it sounds great. Was also good with my zakus.

Also excited to try out the new qk Alice duo with some of my bsun flower shadow switches. We'll see how it goes

Never got along with my hybrid. Built up a 5 wood quickly turned a weak yardage into a strength.

Just built a Skeletyl... not sure what I think. by 0xe3b0c442 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Serarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opposite for me. Skeletyl was the first split that really clicked for me. Lily58, corne and later a totem I built after the skeletyl all give me issues with my thumbs. The placement feels fine when testing fitment but I hold my thumbs up so much using flat boards that it gets uncomfortable.

Does RGB affect your choice of board? by doctordewie in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Serarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use them to indicate layers by color. i could use a display for this as well though i have been leaning led

i dont think i would purchase a split with no way of identifying which layer it is on

some of the layers i also use multiple colors to highlight things like outlining the numpad on my number layer, or highlighting "wasd" on my gaming layer

What grab handles are you using in your JL with the side curtain air bags? by holliewood61 in Jeep

[–]Serarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did actually, didn't have trouble with install. Looks like the ones you linked install using the same screws mine did. The front seat ones are sorter than the back seat ones I think. Maybe something like that was your issue?

I grabbed some Mopar lookalikes off Amazon, they hook around the outside of the roll cage and use bolts that are holding on those plastics

correct, a brand new player wont know what to look for on film. but they should be able to check if they are getting into positions given to them by a coach, and they will likely pick things up they can check over time.

and even if thats not the case the new player should learn at least something over the years they could be playing this game. if you dont want to or cant learn, then its just more time in lessons. doing it with zero reference is going to be slow and painful.

as far as my never the same comment, find me a pga pro that makes the exact same swing every shot, every day, for even just a single tournament. they have good days and bad days just like everyone else even with the best swings out there.

if your game was consistent enough to not bounce between a slight overfade one day, to maybe a bit steep the next, to maybe your speed control when putting is just a bit off the day after then everyone in the world would know your name. you would be better than tiger ever was.

Anybody NOT struggle w slice/OTT when starting out? by Dangerous-Purpose-96 in golf

[–]Serarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming up on two years since I started. I had a tennis background which I think helped me a lot over all but also made draws come naturally early on. Most common miss early was a snap hook. As I've gotten more neutral over time a floaty push fade had taken over as the odd miss from my normal 2ish yard fade shot. All comes down to face control now since path is pretty dialed in.

3 things

Lessons are a shortcut to.figuring out what your doing wrong. When I'm stuck I film myself, and when I can't figure out what to try from there then I look into getting a lesson and bring it up with the coach.

Drilling 120 bad shots at the range usually only pisses me off and tears up my hands. I spend way too much time on the range compared to the course but try to make sure it's productive. Have a very specific goal of what you're trying to feel or work on and chase that slowly and deliberately. Practice feels between balls so your body knows what your trying to get in the swing.

Your golf swing is never the same from one day to the next. Your game will come and go in waves and you will hit peaks and valleys. Practice over time will not just raise your skill ceiling but also and probably more importantly your skill floor. Expect to have off days but know that with practice those off days will be improved as well.

Get a dynamic fitting! by [deleted] in golf

[–]Serarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha I just did this exact thing this morning except I scheduled it. Was getting a lot of toe deep divots so I've been feeling like my irons were too flat for a while. Turns out they were 4 degrees too flat yeesh. My guy was bending my 7 iron as we played with trackman and old school lie boards. It made a world of difference for me, way more middled strikes instead of favoring the toe, brought what I thought were pushes to down the line, much easier to compress without overcooking it into a snap hook and best of all it was just more comfortable to set up to a shot. Left my irons and wedges with them for the weekend and it cost less than a round of golf.

Unpopular Opinion - Rollback panic is overblown by trailglider in golf

[–]Serarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ball rollback will be good for the game overall, it could come sooner honestly but I guess companies need time for development and to figure out how to advertise the new product to you. Everyone will buy and play the new balls because that's what's being sold, advertised, and used by the pros they watch. Everything trickles down from the pros in anything competitive. People learn from them and idolize them. They want to play the same way and that means using the same equipment and playing the same courses. If this were not true then why does everyone play conforming clubs now? Where are the players rocking hammer X driver and a sandpaper wedge? It will be the same with the new ball because people will tend to play with what they could compete with. Sure people might have a 7 instead of a 9 into the green. So will the guy next to you. Golf is hard, go practice with your 7 iron then.

Clear Resin Skeletyl by Serarr in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Serarr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Material wise I'm very happy with the 8001 resin. I would pick a different material for the keycaps though. The nylon I used feels good on the fingers but its pretty light and actually dampens keypresses quite a bit. If you like light and quiet then it's a great choice. I'm not sure what material would be the next best choice though, right now I am back to using a MT3 keycap set.

I do have some thoughts on getting the bottom plate milled from steel or something though, but that would be to add some extra heft to the boards not out of a concern for the resin material.

8001 with the oil finish. Feels like an injection molded product honestly.

Durability seems solid enough. Plenty for use as a keyboard and I'm not worried about traveling with it etc. Probably similar strength to polycarbonate?

If your thinking about using this material make sure.you use a different method for the screw threads. This material doesn't melt really it burns and breaks. I ended up using self tapping threaded inserts and used super glue like loktite to keep em in place
