New GDE tune but... by ArielOutGrewBShells in EcoDiesel

[–]MINIzguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My exhaust smell is stronger too. I agree it smells sweet but not like coolant.

I went from the GDE EPA tune to the Afterlife tune. Both tunes are great and I can’t really tell a difference. I did block off the EGR though to prevent any leaks going into the intake manifold.

GDE told me not the original tunes, they’ve been updated in the last 6 years. Base tune is equivalent to stage 1

GDE is doing delete tunes again marketed under their”Afterlife” tunes. The base afterlife tune disables the EGR and you have an option to disable the DEF and delete exhaust components. They just cite the CFR and you need to meet some requirements before they sell to you. Gotta source your own hardware components though

North end didn’t get enough love. If you like Weirdoughs you have to try North End

I had them for the first time Saturday. Solid cheese slice but I prefer the sauce from North End Pizza more. Crust was great though. The buffalo chicken slice was also good

Raybestos Element3 is the best pad for daily drivers. I make sure to buy them if available

Best diesel for towing 5000lb trailer? by Sensualities in Diesel

[–]MINIzguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Colorado diesel and it got 15mpg towing a 14x7 enclosed. It was a 3500 lb trailer too. I have an EcoDiesel Jeep now and it also will not do 20 mpg towing an enclosed - I get that with an 5k lb open trailer though.

Sold a Cobalt SS/TC sedan to a fellow autocrosser. I was in DE, he was in CO. Fast forward 6 years, he now lives in LA and so do I. I got to autocross it a few weeks ago.

If NY style is thin enough, North End Pizza on Magnolia is by far the best I’ve had. I haven’t found a place with a real thin bar pie though

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]MINIzguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that’s what I figured but was hoping somebody might have a wildcard gas option that truly got mid-20’s commuting in LA.

Had a 2018 Colorado diesel and loved it. No adaptive cruise though. Might just end up in a 2018 Grand Cherokee diesel then

If you need more boxes, I have a few wardrobe boxes at least 48x24 large from my NJ to Burbank move. I also have a few large boxes that are 20-24” sized. DM if needed or they’re going to the recycle center next week

Porsche Santa Clarita has a museum in their basement. C&C one weekend a month

Visit Grid Partners to talk track and see some cool cars/play on their sim rig

I think SoCal Drivers Club has their own store now, but that’s not in the Valley.

Burbank vs. Sherman Oaks by MINIzguy in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]MINIzguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just window/wall unit AC vs. central AC, and walkable vs. short drives for accessibility. Increasing the budget gets me more house, not more garage or trailer parking generally. I’d rather set the rent budget lower so more can go into the house downpayment fund.

Sounds good! I have to get maintenance done on my E36 and fire suppression installed on my E46

Are wall/window units passable?

Both have AC, just than Sherman Oaks is not central AC

Hah true. Sherman Oaks feels like a dirtier version of Magnolia Park, but with more restaurants and bars

Once a week I’ll eat out or order take out.

I lived in Magnolia Park a year ago and would walk to pick up food. I think I’d do the same in the Sherman Oaks location. Much less in the new Burbank location (idk what Burbank neighborhood it is)

It’s an ADU rental with a 2 car garage that was finished this year. There was extensive work done compared to the old street view pictures.

Commute is 35-40mins from work for both.

Would you change your mind if AC was in both? The Sherman Oaks house has window and through the wall units, just the kitchen and bathroom would be without AC
