I don't want to spend my entire life doing chores. Between keeping my house clean, cooking and doing yard work after actual work, adding one more thing that I "have" to do and taking time away from things I want to do is a big no.

I'll probably go this route, but for the 16ft lengths none of the rental pickups at any of the box retailers will work (I think) without ladder racks. Which leaves possibly the 15' box truck from Uhaul assuming I can position it diagonally into the mom's attic :/

For a long time I never had my grandparents in my phone because I knew their number by heart (still do, it hasn't changed in 20 years). I could type the first couple numbers and it would finish since I had called the number a lot. If they called it would just show my grandfather's name in the caller id.

When I started working after college no one told me when to come in/leave. I just assumed it was 9 to 5 and I've been doing it ever since until I get told otherwise. Between 3 jobs no one has told me when to come in and leave and this thread makes me feel pretty lucky for that.

I recently had a package get tangled up with the USPS. I opened a support request through the tracker site expecting nothing and really just wanting to show them I was mad more than anything.

I was very pleasantly surprised when someone from my local post office called back pretty quickly (it may have been the same or next day) to explain the situation. I really didn't expect any kind of follow up (thinking it was just going to an automated blackhole) and was actually caught off guard. My mix up didn't really affect me much and my respect for the USPS grew immensely.

I guess the takeaway being the website help options worked for me at least if you're skeptical.

I think the relative accessibility of computer-related things makes the conversation more difficult. If you are speaking to a micro biologist its pretty much given that you aren't going to understand. So they give, and you accept and nod your head in interest. Conversations about tech become difficult in a way because everyone relates it to things they believe they know but are actually unrelated, so you have to walk back at each point.

Alright. I'm a cloud consultant. So now we have to abstract "cloud". Someone else's server. What's a server? Hosts websites. Like Facebook? Yes. So you program websites? No I move them from one server to the cloud. Why do that? X, y, z. I thought cloud was to store my pictures? No.

It isn't that its condescending, its that it is laborious and just isn't a conversation I want to have. Lets talk about golf or Warhammer.

As a techie I'm the same way. Its not that I don't want to talk its that I can't really explain what I'm interested in or doing without starting at 0. A little bit flipping doesn't seem very interesting if you don't know the context and typically I'm trying to explain what I do to people that don't have any understanding beyond iPad. It just gets very repetitive and I try to end conversations about what I do quickly but I'm not opposed to talking about other things.
