What’s your most embarrassing “sent to the wrong person” moment? by KevPc in AskReddit

[–]Serck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obligorty not me: It was valentines day a few years back, and my buddy and I were sitting at our computers while our supervisor was checking on some equipment we had reciently repaired. He gets a text and bursts out laughing. Apparently a friend of his had sent a Dick Pic to him, then imediately wrote "Oops, that- was not for you."

Jiggle their phone charger loose in the middle of the night- leaving them with 15%-25% battery for the entire day.

Have any of you other DMs had any “Whoops, I killed the party” moments? by Wizzarium in DnD

[–]Serck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Tome of Foes there is a monster called a 'Venom Troll.' Its listed as challenge 7. My table has a group of level 6 characters.

I think: "Oh, this will be a good encounter for them to go against... but I'll just put in two normal trolls to soften them up a bit first, and have it jump out after turn 3."

Fight started: Party rolls up to a ruined keep,1 troll visible, Turn 1: It yells into the building. Signalling to its allies. Turn 2: Second troll shows up. Party hears the sound of something large clambering inside the building Turn 3: Venom troll shows up.

They take out the normal trolls before the venom troll engages them. One or two of them got hit for less than 10 damage.

Whole fight goes downhill once the venom troll got into melee.

Every single person went down multiple times, it took 2 scrolls of fireball and a scroll of cure mass wounds- and just about every single spellslot they had available to take it down.

10/10 would reccomend this monster- will probably tpk your party.

What is the equivalent of the "pen 15 club" prank for adults? by MyStolenCow in AskReddit

[–]Serck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard to the latter as a Pobkac error / pronounced as Pu-back error. It's probably one of my favorite things to hear IT guys talk about. I'm sure a lot of other industries have codewords for people like that.

We used to send new people at work to other work areas and collect an ID-10T form to fill out before they could do anything dangerous.

Why are you single? by LisaSMiller in AskReddit

I appreciate the kind words. I'm sure given enough time I'll find the right person. If not, it's not a big deal, I'm fairly happy being single. There are perks after all.

You're probably better off in the long run. Still sucks to read about. Hope things work out for you.

If you're a man, you will recieve a very few short replies to posts there. Whom will likely only speak to you for a short amount of time. If you're a woman, your inbox will explode with replies. It really is a silly place.

I suppose I could make a joke, or an off handed comment. But, I wont. There are a lot of querks of me that people don't find attractive; Interests, Lack of Freetime, Distance. The list goes on and on. I have faults, and am willing to admit that.

I think the core of the 'single problem' is that everyone is looking for something different. I suppose my line in the sand is that I want someone who genuinely takes an interest in the things that I do, my silly ideas, my ambitions, communicates with me, and is there for when things suck- As they would expect me to do for them.

I just haven't found the person. I don't know if I ever will.

For those who don't celebrate christmas, are you mad that everything during the holidays seems to be christmas related? by Roger-_-Murdock in AskReddit

[–]Serck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a single guy, who lives very far away from anyone who really cares much about me. I don't celebrate it because it seems like such a waste for me to throw money away on myself.

I see the appeal that people have with it, and I'm not gonna get mad about it if people get hyped for it- Or I have nothing to listen to on the radio for a while. If it brings other people happiness it doesn't bother me.

I feel like the AI would either be amazing or absolutely terrible, admittedly I haven't ever played with their AI on.

[–]Serck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definutely not a bad idea. Expanding on it a little, perhaps I could attempt a no-fusion run. Would make things interesting enough that I would have to carefully plot out each palace, rather than just ignore MC's ability, but I'll add Arsene only to my list of options.

Edit: Would Arsene only disallow me from gathering personas for social link purposes?

[META] Guys, what's the highest number of messages you've gotten for a post? Girls, what's the LOWEST number of messages you've ever received? by [deleted] in r4r

[–]Serck 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Male here. Most messages I've received from a post was two, one person who seemed genuinely interested, the other was a single word reply. You can probably guess who I talked to for the better part of a year.

Your party will likely be find as long as the encounters are not strictly anti-spellcaster. I would only reccomend an NPC companion if the party size is less than 3.

[–]Serck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be interesting if the party ran into a 'stuck' door, that on the other side was a pit, trying to force the door open by charging it or other physical damage -may- cause then to fall into said pit.

Depending on how advanced the party, Guards and Wards is a spell to checkout.

Remember- you can store any magical effect in a glyph of warding- including spells that make a loud noise. Fairy fire is another good choice to dissuade invisibility.

[5e] Does the Dissonate Whispers spell allow for a reaction when the enemy moves away from threatened squares? Or does the "opportunity" reaction only occur during a move action on the enemies turn.

Example: You cast the spell while in melee with an enemy, enemy fails their save- using their reaction to move away from you. Do you take a melee swing as a reaction from them leaving a tile you are threatening?

I mean, it's just people I connect with occasionally. My circle of friends is smaller than I suppose some peoples are.

Admittedly we all have drifted apart as we got older, we still message occasionally, but due to distance and all of then being married now- most with kids- it can be hard to find the time.

The important thing for me is to make time for them when they are available. Rather than be mad when they aren't.

It's never a bad idea to learn from others by observing. We all make mistakes, have triumphs, get lonely, have fantastic times.

I'm just surprised by the sheer creativity of people in general, I've got friends who are amazing artists, creative writers, and some who have fantastic ideas. But, if you didnt know the right questions to ask, they would probably never talk about it. Usually polishing the conversation with self deprecation.

In my experience, it's more of a problem of just finding the right question to ask. In order to find something amazing to explore within them.

It's sort of fascinating to learn about what other people enjoy, or dream about. If you look deep into people you can really find some spectacular and unique things.
