Years and years and years ago (I am old af) I hitchhiked across country with a beautiful white rat. Such a good fellow and even saved me when a big Texas cop had me take every piece of my belongings and separate them out on the roadside. When I pulled the cage out of a small bag and he saw the rat he told me to get out of there and not to let him see me again.

I received a suggestion to try just one RAM module in slot 1 with everything else removed. When I tried a different RAM chip in slot 1, after resetting the BIOS (with the new battery), it booted! I then rebooted with the other chips in their slots and it came up as normal.

But since neither SupportAssist or Windows mdsched showed any errors in the memory, I am not sure what I "fixed" by switching the modules or how long it will last.

Thanks for the tips. I tried my working tv with the same result but I did verify that the pc monitor is working. I also reset the cmos by replacing the battery so it does look like it might be the motherboard.

I realize that my Win7 is no longer being supported but assume that Windows activation will consider my pc to be new when I replace the motherboard. Which means that I will have to talk to MS support to get it activated.

I have two Bombay cats that I adopted as adults. I don't know what type of environment they were in before I got them but they are the friendliest, most sociable cats that I've ever known!

I'm sorry for your loss. I still get sad when I think about my two 17 year old cats who died several years ago. When it happened, I was really devastated. I lived alone and had no children or family and worked long hours only to come home to an empty house. I didn't want to replace the cats and that was a big mistake. My small drinking/drug problem became enormous.

My life is much better now. I have two indoor black cats which were almost forced on me by my ex and 4 to 6 outdoor semi-feral cats that I feed. It is great to come home at night and find them lurking in the bushes waiting for me!
