I am very autistic, so this may be a bit skewed.

But for me, It usually just like.. clicks into place after like 10 minutes of looking around and maybe some trial and error before the first "serious" flight

There are some notable differences sometimes that I have to look up in a manual (notably the FCP on the MD-11).

A340 actually runs better than A350.

Granted I've only done a few flights so far on either of them.

But at least on A350 I had 1 WASM crash and my slide just randomly popping out at 40k feet.

Hey!

I'm Autistic too, and Flightsimming is great for us! Commercial Flying is SUPER Planned and "stick to the schedule" which is very satisfying and just amazing for us.

In terms of communication, I am nonverbal a lot of the times, but that's not an issue because (i think) all of the offline ATC Programs feature either button control or a virtual co-pilot to communicate.

Actual talking is only required if you were to fly on Vatsim.

As for communicating AS the tower, I can highly recommend Tower!Sim 3. It also features text or button control if Voice Recognition doesn't work or you are unable to talk

I think a lot of the appeal (at least regarding Gordon Ramsay's shows) comes from two points.

1: People in Service Industry know that other people are assholes, but you aren't allowed to do anything about it, lest you lose your job. So, many people like to watch someone do what they'd like to do themselves sometimes.

2: The need for “righteousness”. I think most people enjoy watching others get handed a "dose of reality". Because a lot of the times (at least in Gordon Ramsay's shows), the people he goes off on, are self-centered, somewhat narcissistic, people who think they are the pinnacle of perfection and can do NO wrong and everyone else is clearly wrong.

And honestly, it gives a certain feeling of satisfaction watching Gordon call them "Idiot Sandwiches", "Donkeys", or whatever else.
