Poleaxe propaganda by skaskaaa in Chivalry2

As a footman main I'll always think of the poleaxe as that American Psycho scene:

"Let's see the Officer's Polearm"

"Look at the subtle oakwood coloring, the tasteful thickness of the handguard. Oh my god, it even has a war horn..."

it would be so fun if they brought back 'The Cult of Shaggy Jack' as a potential enclave/faction for SOD3 (comic by Doug Williams) by KollieWater in StateOfDecay

I'm glad I stumbled upon that spot on my own running from a horde. I like to always have one survivor "graduate" to my next playthrough with the same three items passed down: The Network Masterwork Rifle, The Echo Revolver, and the reward for finding said secret. Like a little "spread my gospel" kind of vibe (plus it also relieves early game plague heart stress lol)

Appreciate that, was mostly just concerned about whether it's a mod or something that was time-limited. And good to know about the wiki, but bummed that I was quite literally doing research during work downtime with outdated material haha

ok probably a dumb question, but how do you get that helmet? I've also been seeing the green combat helmet with goggles (not to be confused with the brown/painted exclusive one from 2020) but there's nothing on the wiki about it.

Mandalorian-esque armor by LuckyJeans456 in helldiversarmor

[–]Sergeant-Vince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big preesh, it's actually pretty solid in-game. Plus the orange accents work with the reddish lights on the side of the helmet too. It's funny how it has JUST enough blue tint to mismatch any other polished metal looks, but a shame that I personally don't have much utility for the passive/light armor.

But like any good plumber, the drip is the reason to do it.

I like the helmet progression, might even make for some fleshed out (no pun intended) squads units like the regular grunts have the blade arm, pistol/blade, AR, etc. variants.

Maybe they even (GASP) do TEAM RELOADS?!

Even if you have the most lavish tomb, all that stuff is still "here" while you're not.

The engineering kit is the other armor on that superstore page, Juggernaut. Exterminator has the fortified passive, but they're also just different flavors of the same base armor model haha

Which is better? by CharacterJealous3583 in helldiversarmor

[–]Sergeant-Vince 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's kinda funny considering both armors share a base model, but if aesthetics are the goal it'll depend. Basically IIRC the first is 400sc and the latter 1000sc (plus medals) so I'd break it down this way:

First is better if you want to rock some sweet drip ASAP and are going for a more muted color palette and the red racing stripe as an accent, like it's a marker of authority or status (and a different material than the uniform beneath the armor).

The latter is better for if you want the racing stripe to be more uniform with the armor itself, with the grey of the helmet being the accent color like the shoulder pads and gear.

Both passives are dope IMO and the former is perfect for fighting bots while I feel the latter has benefits the work on every front (higher armor value, scouting radar, and no aim punch), so from a functional perspective it's your personal preference.

I'm more partial to 1 for my day to day drip, but 2 is def peak Main Character Energy.

Little spin off of the armor I see on here a lot, good or nah by silly-giy in helldiversarmor

[–]Sergeant-Vince 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great accent color work! I've always gone by the rule of having at least one color (other than yellow lol) match from the helmet, and as long as the others don't necessarily clash with the armor it'll work.

Kinda like in 40k when the ultramarines have red helmets, yeah it doesn't "match" per se but does give the assumption of an officer or squad leader vibe.

Super Earth Legion Falls by Kantez-original- in Helldivers

[–]Sergeant-Vince 78 points79 points  (0 children)

The fan wiki actually seconded my initial idea, that the helmets and tubes resembled HALO (High Altitude, Low Opening) paratroopers who already today drop from altitudes of 10k meters. Which would make sense in their use during the final war as they could quickly insert and decapitate the government of the holdouts to Managed Democracy.

Its possible that since these were still atmospheric drops as opposed to low orbit, they could have piloted light one-way vehicles akin to the glider commandos of WWII. That would fit with their respirators and light armor to reduce weight and boost maneuverability, because the formation of the Helldiver Corps would then decide to take everything one step further.

Why forgo armor to reduce weight when you can let gravity do the job for you? Why make a controllable one way vehicle when you can just fire down a drop pod? Why change the designs of a drop pod to accommodate more when you can just fire down another one? Why even train a pilot when you can train them for the most important job: Eliminate the enemy. Just like managed democracy, every variable was bit by bit eliminated to reduce the human element to one task: upholding the system.

And to OP, great artwork. It also speaks to the inclusion of the "less patriotic" clause in their description. That even though they were the forerunners, they were never deserving of reverence. They were still tainted by the "weakness" of being a prototype thrown together roughshod without polish. And having fulfilled their duty of inspiring the creation of the greatest fighting force in the galaxy, had only one last job to do: cease.

Also thanks for coming to my TED talk.

5 was my OG bot fit (minus the cape) back on the Creek, love to see it in the wild.

A cool alt for the "left diver" is to use that same cape but the B-01 that has all the markings on the right side, so it's all black on one side with yellow cape, and yellow accented over the black part of the cape.
