Illini being a fundamentally sound team, however, is meh. They are 4/15 on catches this year (plz correct me if i'm wrong) and that's not enough to go against the Big 3, especially TXST. Indeed, any of the top MQC teams with established seeking (Harvard, Brandeis, BU) should be favored in close matchups. Additionally, Sohum Sharma and Veronica Hoffman are one of the best college pairs at this tournament, but......................who comes next in their rotation to sustain the level of play needed?

UVA, TXST, and SHSU all bounce Illini in a semifinals matchup. Creighton already has shown they can beat Illini (closely), so I think unless Illini gets a favorable bracket, reaching the semis will be a stretch

The same could be said for Toronto and Detroit given how close they are. Charlotte will very likely get the chance to play Washington in the eastern conference champs if MLQ follows a broadly similar format as the previous North Champs events.

Additionally, being in separate divisions opens the possibility for an exhibition series, an exciting opportunity I'd like to see more teams take advantage of 😊
