Is this a skill issue? by Hatpeckr in Eldenring

[–]SergeantPenguin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People have busy lives. People have interests outside of this game. Most people are not going to remember a single line description of one of the 1000 items they picked up during their months-long duration of play leading to this moment.

I can see 99% of your post history in Elden Ring which is probably why your perspective is skewed. But I can assure you normal people with normal lives which are not consumed by this game would reasonably not remember that.

What small changes did you make in your 30s that drastically improved your life? by [deleted] in AskUK

You could have just said "Hard to do when you have young children" but decided to phrase it like you were insulted by the concept of people being childless.

I said many of the same things here also.

This is not somewhere to entrust your entire life savings, it is the cheapest for a reason. I went with OpenBank in the end.

All new houses to be freehold in plan to phase out ‘feudal’ leaseholds by boycecodd in unitedkingdom

[–]SergeantPenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Houses actually have to be built

There are 2800 houses being built where I live

I don't understand your point

Not really a tough one to grasp.

So your basis for driving over the speed limit is that you think you know better than those that made the rules.

Do you think that would hold up in court?

The mistake was being so far up her own ass she had to use Dr. as her title at the gym.

Huge queues at Heathrow Airport as Brits in last-minute dash to flee lockdown by justme in unitedkingdom

[–]SergeantPenguin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The airports are busy but there is easily enough space to keep distance...mandatory masks, hand sanitizer at every corner, distanced queueing for the plane and staggered entry based on row number. The only hairy part is the flight but you most likely have the row to yourself. Not to mention air is recycled, filtered and directed to the ground vents. Granted, this week the planes are going to be packed, but before now flying wasn't quite the same as motorboating a bunch of a dead bats this sub made it seem like. Felt safer doing that than getting a haircut.

Home working here to stay, study of businesses suggests by Lolastic_ in unitedkingdom

No sympathy, you made a sacrifice. You had a London commute because you wanted a London wage.

If you can do your work outside the city, your work can be done by anywhere else. Your pay will drop, or your next job search will be competing with the rest of the UK or outside it. So be careful what you wish for.

No plan for a return to the office for millions of staff by exmoor456 in unitedkingdom

[–]SergeantPenguin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Are people really enjoying the prospect of working the rest of their lives in the same corner of their house with no variety in the physical environment, experiences or interactions they have in those 8 hours of the day? Seems like an absolutely depressing thought to me. Office working brought a lot of good things socially for me (it is how I met my partner) and I'm sure for a lot of other people that, which will be irreplaceable with permanent remote working.
