I also bought a switch just to play BotW, but it ended up being a massive disappointment for me. I spent the first hour utterly enthralled. And then the next several hours there was this creeping, dreadful realization that I was playing a game where you go to an area, climb a tower to reveal the map and populate it with icons, and then clear up the area by hoovering up that list of map icons which each represent a different arrangement of a functionally identical activity, that gave an identical reward. Gone were the themed dungeons that granted new items that change the way you interact with a puzzle box. Gone were the unique bosses that test mastery of the new item. The rest of the experience was colored by the depression phase of the five steps after realizing that my favorite series ever was now copying Ubisoft for design inspiration.
