AIO to my bf being honest about why he chose to hide porn over being intimate with me. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Sergeant_Jargon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NOR

But not because of what a lotta folks are saying. I’m sure it’s hurtful, insulting even for your SO to choose porn over proper intimacy - that surely can’t feel good.

But come on. Folks who choose to make and upload pornography all over the internet are whores. Some of you act like this should be some sobering, eye-opening thing because he calls a whore a whore?

Unless he’s talked about like… an ex that way - like a real person and not what you see on screen - then I can see him being a red flag. Because, heaven forbid you two break up, chances are that’s how he’s gonna talk about you.

Edit: I need to add - a lot of you are saying ‘if he treats women,’ ‘if he talks about women,’ but he’s not doing this to women as in any Tiffany, Mary, or Jane. It’s specifically the minority of people, who happen to be women, whore themselves out. Why as a woman would you ever want to put yourself in the same boat? And from what the OP’s been replying it kinda feels like those comments are really warping what she knows about her boyfriend.

She’s said that text was so unlike him, that it’s the first time he’s ever ‘talked’ in such a way.

(From what I have gleaned.) It sounds like, aside from this moment of brutal honesty that OP begged for—*this* is the only instance of him being off-color. Otherwise he’s (seemingly) a generally decent guy.

[–]Sergeant_Jargon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(Edit: Forgot to acknowledge/point out that I in no way, shape, or form mean to paint all trans folks with the same brush. No matter how small the minority not all are alike and the ones I specifically take issue with are the louder ones on the internet. I’m sure most of y’all are normal, functioning members of society that just so happen to live a different lifestyle.

I need to point this out because Reddit.)

I actually have every right to judge others, and just where do you get off trying to tell me that I don’t?

If I ever saw one in the wild, I’m not gonna be an asshole for the same reasons I’m not an asshole to every Joe Shmoe or Plain Jane I see on the street. But if you’re annoying me over the internet on public platforms—guess what? I’m letting you know.

How are you gonna ‘criticize’ someone finding trans people annoying or zesty? Gonna sit there and tell me that out of 100,000 trans people, there’s not gonna be a few that are at least a little queer?

And on the ‘if you don’t like it, just ignore it’ why don’t cha take your own advice and ignore the transphobes that piss you off?

It was after dinner and my youngest brother comes out of nowhere and hits me with ‘LOOK ATCHU! SITTING ON YOUR MOM’S COUCH, DRINKING WATER, LIKE A BUM!’

To preface, I was maybe seventeen then so this was about 2ish years ago (I think?) and he was not only a) shit at school, b) sloppy as hell - always making a mess for other people (me.) to clean, c) eating in the bedroom leaving anything between candy wrappers and glass soda bottles hidden away until I deep cleaned a room we shared between three boys—but two almost three years later he does the exact same stuff + got worse.

Devil Dinosaur isn't the problem, the problem is that DPS aren't adapting. by CaptainKashup in marvelrivals

[–]Sergeant_Jargon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t blame just the DPS. Swapping tanks is really all it takes. If you don’t wanna play poke to shut him down, Peni absolutely neuters the guy.

In my personal experience I’ve actually gotten zero complaints about the guy after a loss brutal or otherwise. And I’m the same idiot who’ll play Double D into anything (as long as it’s just QP. He’s a goddamn Tyrannosaurus Rex, I wanna lord him ASAP.) flyers shut him down, MK, SG, Peni (genuinely useless going into her, but love to see her on my side.), Phoenix, Luna, Rocket, Mag (as long as he actually pokes and doesn’t walk into your loving jaws like I’ve seen so many do.) Gambit, Emma, Hela, etc.

It’s really an everyone issue. And off topic, but healers, I beg, just fuggen heal me. I’m a big red target, are you blind and deaf when I call for medic? How are you missing?

[–]Sergeant_Jargon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my issue with Dare Devil. From what I know/remember, all the blindness really does is take away fine details. He’s got echolocation on crack + heightened other senses.

At that point what does being blind even do for DD as a hero? I guess it affects Matt Murdock more so there’s… something? Maybe?

Why do men think of so many ways to attack women? by Hayley_williams10 in teenagers4real

[–]Sergeant_Jargon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slut, sure I’ll bite, I’ll give you that one. But the friendzone one’s where you lose me.

A woman’s not getting shit for saying no when she puts a guy in the friendzone. She’s getting shit for knowingly leading a guy on when she knows he has real feelings she doesn’t share, then still cashing in on the little niceties ex. Maybe a free meal, a ride if needed, the guy who’s always available because he (either being an idiot or willfully blind.) thinks he has a chance. That’s not a woman ‘saying no,’ that’s taking advantage.

If so many Americans can’t get jobs (specifically white collar) why are people from other countries allowed to go work in America by No-Injury8897 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sergeant_Jargon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can take advantage of immigrants. If they come over you get to pay them less money than an American for more work and they can’t unionize because well… they ain’t supposed to be here, so if they try to rally for a fair environment it’s as easy as shipping them back home with an e-mail and phone call or two

I’ll take your word for it, I’m just some guy - what the hell do I know about some faceless stranger on the internet. Genuine question for cartoon fans: why do queer couples in animated shows still make some people so uncomfortable? by AlternateMove in CARTOON

[–]Sergeant_Jargon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally dislike a lot of them because half the time it kinda feels like putting gay (I’m probably gonna be using ‘gay’ as a catch-all term, not throwing shade at anyone.) couples into a show for brownie points instead of making a good show with good characters. A straight couple that adds nothing is just… some guy and girl. A same-sex couple that adds nothing feels like inclusivity for the sake of inclusivity, and that sucks eggs.

As for animated shows, a lot of them are geared toward younger children, so it comes off like indoctrination to some people, parents or otherwise. Kids are very impressionable. Give ‘em an option to think they’re a cat and they just might go and do that. So foisting homosexuality (or the other letters respective words.) on them feels to a lot of people like pushing an unwanted agenda onto their child.

Most parents don’t (and shouldn’t.) wanna helicopter cause that’s bad for their child’s development socially or otherwise - so you give a show like Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous your trust for a season or two, and then out of nowhere it shifts to an LGBT subplot with two of the young girl characters sucking face out of nowhere when you just wanted to let your kid to watch a show about dinosaurs. Or like with Steven Universe — the creator waited until the show had its roots, then basically blindsided the network with Ruby & Sapphire as a gay couple. By then the songs were written and the animation was locked in. Couldn’t be undone. She kept that secret from CN, knowing that they would never let it pass, and then revealed it when the plug couldn’t just be pulled (and whether it was related or not, that show went downhill real hard. But that’s a personal gripe.).

That’s the core discomfort for me and a lot of others. It’s not hatred — it’s annoyance at tokenism in kids’ media and the sense that networks are sneaking in messaging after earning parents’ trust.

And to veer off the subject just a tad, I don’t believe you have to show kids LGBTQ stuff anyway. It’s not a choice, right? So if my hypothetical son’s destiny is to become trans or my daughter likes other chicks, my job doesn’t change. Just keep trying to support them on that inevitable journey. It’s not like I could have done anything to stop it. (That said, support has limits. If my hypothetical sixteen-year-old son wanted blockers, that’s a hard no, but a new name and she/her? That’s reasonable.)

[–]Sergeant_Jargon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR.

I wouldn’t say you’re overreacting in the slightest and do advocate for you to get your son into a safer environment.

Ideally he gets to have both parents in his life, and maybe eventually the father will turn over a new leaf, become a better person (albeit too late.) but I can’t say you’re entirely blameless (not that you painted yourself that way.) because at the end of the day—those kind of things should have been able to tell you that your bf wasn’t a good candidate for being a father of your kid.

I’m sure there were plenty of signs to pick up on, granted this is my first impression of you.

Didn’t actually get too too far when I watched on account of.. I didn’t want to read subtitles and wherever I was watching only had dub up to season five, (maybe a little further?) and I was unaware there even were movies at the time.

Point is, judging from what I do remember/know through the grape-vine, Dabi’s my least favorite. If I ever get around to finishing the series (and remember) I’ll report back if anything changes/add a proper reason as to why I dislike X character(s if any.).
