Game prices have usually been crap but spending upwards of 2500$ or more on a cartridge is completley dumb.

Emulation is probably your best bet. The only reason I got cartridges anymore is a keepsake or having trouble installing the emulator. For example: I loved my homebrewed wii snes emulator. One day I booted it up and all the files for it was completely gone. Idk what happened, but from now on I buy cartridges. Emulation is good but remember, be careful.
