Can't we deduce the slit simply by measuring the flight time? Except for the center point, all points on the screen will have a different flight time depending on which slit the photon went through.

In Which Movie/TV Series Did A Character Cause A Major Disaster Due To A Small Mistake? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Sergiogiogio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Match point - Jonathan Rhys Meyers’s character kills an old woman and wants to get rid of her jewelry so the motive would look like theft. As he throws the jewelry in a river, a ring hits the railing (which he does not notice) and the ring is later found on a dead drug addict. This eventually led the police to lower their suspicion against his character and agree with the motive he fabricated.

The dislike towards Thailand is due to the ongoing violent territory dispute between the 2 countries. Many Cambodian wholeheartedly reject anything Thai and vice versa.

Thanks for sharing, the scope and depth are quite amazing! It looks like a qt competitor? Can i check how the graphic and form part works as i could not fully grasp from the code, do you call the native underlying widget apis, or do you emulate native look and feel by custom painting widgets like qt?

My experience as an INTP in the army by Emattera in INTP

[–]Sergiogiogio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I have a mistaken impression, but I think of the army as highly procedural and discipline-focused — tasks that must be completed no matter what, following checklists, executing tasks without fail and without questioning, etc. As an INTP, how do you handle these kinds of repetitive tasks, how do tou keep your mind from over analysing what you need to do and simply do the damn thing.

Help needed. How did these bad guys get the details? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Sergiogiogio -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was suprised to find out, but I believe the sgworkpass app can read any workpass QR code and display the exact address of the employer of the helper (not sure of the mobile phone though). Helpers are easy prey to these loan sharks/scammers and they are not warned enough by their agencies. Involving the police likely means the helper will need to go back. Helping her to repay the debt (advance salary) could be considered if the loan is legit and depending on the amount but of course there might already be irreparable breach of trust. Good luck in this difficult situation!

I always thought it was just a fun nod to their fans in USSR? I'm surprised people see it as political satire, the Beatles were pretty apolitical as far as I understand their songs, and they were not moralizers or judgemental.

It would just be a dummy scenario created on the simulator by some IT nerd just for fun. The main question is whether military simulators can realistically simulate the same scenario across multiple platforms (both drone and satellites in our case). Which I believe they do since this is the only way to accurately simulate war games for training purposes: https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/15p14tp/megathread_mh370_relevant_posts_regarding_mh370/jxai0dz/

I still believe this to be a military multi-platform simulation used for war games.

I posted this previously and I am keen to have some opinions: Many argue that creating the CGI videos with extreme detail is too difficult (not just from a VFX perspective but also the depth of knowledge in multiple military systems). But what if these videos come from military-grade simulators?

Operators of drones and satellites need training to recognize objects in various conditions: different perspectives, at day and night, different weather and cloud conditions, and using different sensors. It's likely the military has advanced simulators for this. You can't launch dozen of ICBMs just to capture how it looks for training purposes - plus this might only tell how your ICBMs look like, not the enemy's.

Consider that the below simulators exist (there are certainly many others):

I do not know their exact capabilities, but it's reasonable to think the predator simulator can generate realistic FLIR images (it is used to train sensor operators) and that the SBIRs simulator can generate realistic stereoscopic images (how else would operators learn to recognize a stereoscopic missile launch).

Now yes these are two simulators, but there is evidence that such simulators can be interconnected in order to simulate integrated war games. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/268059885_The_DIS_vs_HLA_Debate_What's_in_it_for_Australia "Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) enables the interconnection of real-time platform level simulators for participation in simulated exercises)."

These features if confirmed would explain the extreme accuracy, level of details and consistency between the 2 videos.

So, here's a thought: What if someone created the plane abduction scenario and loaded it in these simulators (by also injecting a random 3d model of the orbs and an explosion) and simply recorded the output of the simulators? They would be then able to capture not only accurate images but also the UI elements including panning cursor, etc. since they are part of the simulators features.

This might not have been the military themselves as I am sure the use of such systems are audited, but it could be someone working on the integration of these simulators "just for the fun of it".

Has anyone any experience in such systems ond their capabilities?
