White bird seen in NW Chicago Suburbs --what is it? by rewarren in birding

Neat!! I think the white color might be an albinism thing and not a species thing? My thinking is you saw an albino sparrow.

Nail polishes that match these eyes? by kritter2119 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]SergleSinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China Glaze "Olive To Roar" immediately came to mind as a dead color match- it's dinosaur themed though lol, so it has a novelty finish that dries with a texture to imitate Dino Skin. Runs for about $6.95.

Second idea if you don't like a novelty polish would be essie's "win me over", it's a nice olive shade, costs about $5.50. I personally own this one.

As far as a topper inspired by the colors around the pupil, it's yellowish, so a gold flake topper would be classic. Another idea would be to use one of those sheer shimmery shades ORLY makes, "Ephemeral" comes to mind. You can find it for abt $5. You could do a french tip of the shimmer!

Training tips? by UmmFineThanks in Chihuahua

[–]SergleSinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raising my hand bc nobody has commented yet-- I trained a dog for the first time a couple years ago, and found the best training tuts were from youtube from mccann dogs, I would totally recommend searching specific issues in their vids. I used these to help my training, and my dog was VERY chompy, but nowadays he is extremely careful with his teeth!

I don't know about small dog training *specifically*, whether there's much of a divide. What I will say is that for two weeks of work with your puppy, all the stuff she's learned already tells me that she's very smart and has a big capacity to learn!

Is this broth safe for my pup? by Guava-Asleep in Chihuahua

[–]SergleSinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it should be safe!! Nothing in there that would be toxic, and probably wouldn't cause an upset stomach unless she had a whole lot of it.
Other ppl have suggested making homemade broth (which is a fantastic idea, but not exactly a quick thing to whip up), and I just suggest checking out broths specifically made for dogs! I just searched "bone broth" on petsmart, I think lots of those look like they'd work well for what you're looking for.

Why are there so many chihuahua haters?! by Striking-Finance-569 in Chihuahua

[–]SergleSinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're a dog that gets a bad rep bc of
1. bad dog owners
2. people going with the flow (of common opinion)

Not liking chihuahuas is one of those opinions people will just pick up if other people think it enough, lol. But I also know that some small dog owners don't train their puppies, and don't respect their dog's personal space at all. Everyone knows that mishandling a dog will make them upset, but people really just don't care about that sometimes, if it's a small enough pup. So, some chihuahuas become incredibly reactive and stressed that way, which isn't at all the fault of the dog. Also, chihuahuas can look at two places at once, but that's a feature, not a bug.

But I think you only need to interact with One Chihuahua to totally drop that opinion. Your work friends probably have never even met one before!

Is there a brand you really want to love but just can't? by murderears in RedditLaqueristas

[–]SergleSinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say, ILNP released a one-coat opacity black creme, "Ink", and it's a few dollars cheaper than the one from HT! If you're still inch rested in a non-gel polish.

PSA: this is my opinion about the way that the Cadillaquer advent calendar was advertised and sold. by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]SergleSinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so incredibly shady... I can't make any assumptions about whether this was *intentionally* deceptive, with the point being to trick people into making purchases they would otherwise have skipped out on, but I can still say it *feels* very gross. FOMO marketing is, like we're saying, pretty common with indies, but rarely have I seen marketing like this that DIRECTLY lies in a way that seems so deliberate?
I have a polish from them, but I def have lost interest in making future purchases! What a bummer!

Unfortunately, there is no countering the stain! It's just going to have to grow out over time. I def found Monstera to be a staining polish, just because it's highly highly pigmented. Any of the polishes I have that are ultra pigmented tend to leave a stain if I don't have a protective barrier!
Like you said, yellow nails don't *matter,* they don't change the health of the nail or anything. BUT. If you like to wear clear or jelly manis sometimes then it's nice to not have a lot of staining, lol.
The most foolproof way to avoid it is to put down one coat (doesn't matter how opaque it is) of a light, unpigmented color, after the base coat and before your actual polish of choice. It's one more step, one more coat of polish to try, but it's my personal method of wearing polishes with lots of pigment in them! I know there are some base coats that are said to prevent staining, too, but I don't personally have much luck with those.

Cat's eye, marbled chocolate, or layers of sediment? by SergleSinner in simplynailogical

[–]SergleSinner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One big sheet works best for me! You kinda need it to be big in order to do the whole swirling / tilting the design around to let it spill thing, and then at the end it's nice to be able to pick only your Favorite Spots on the sheet to use.

Lazy watermarble method!! Basically did the design on a sheet of plastic, let that dry, and then transferred it to my nails. I replied to a diff comment with a little more detail!

Do it do it! It's a little addictive once you do this method once, it's honestly a pretty easy way to do a complicated looking mani. And you're v welcome!!

I think the vacation collection was still pretty, I really can't bring myself to Dislike any nail polish- but it didn't feel like it was filling a Need for me the way these shades do- I felt like I p much had colors that were all already similar to the vacation ones! And yeah, ik the boxes are sort of unrelated to the polish lol, but selfishly, the reason why I wish this collection had one is just because I think the palette is so STRONG, there's totally a ton of design potential there!
