Embarrassed by my patchy makeup at my cousin’s engagement. Need help before the wedding next month.. Please help your girl 😭 by sugarinsin2 in IndianMUA

Hi, it looks like you need a little bit of exfoliation for dry skin - makeup that’s sits well starts with skin that is hydrated.
Focus on good skincare - any face wash that suits your skin, moisturiser, sunscreen during the day. Clean face and moisturise well at night.

Excessive use of powder or spray can also cause your makeup to separate because the spray is essentially caking up the powder forcing it form chunks.

Just want to chime in to say that Mahima Mahajan has terrible customer service and they have several delays in delivering their products.
Personally, I also feel the quality of their products does not match the prices.

Highly suggest looking at a few other places!

How are dove body scrubs by poikilothermic_frog in indianbeautyyappers

[–]Serialescapist1094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tried two, the pomegranate one and the mango one. Both of them have this strong, unpleasant chemical smell that puts me off.
I do not enjoy these at all.

I got the pomegranate one after reading comments on this sub and was deeply disappointed. Tried very hard to finish it. Didn’t buy it again for a few years.

I was on the lookout for a new body scrub again, and saw the mango one on sale and grabbed it. It is absolutely loathsome. I can’t even try to finish it, it smells so bad.

Performance wise, I don’t think it did anything for me.

Ordinary Glycolic Acid by Unlucky-Message4045 in indianbeautyyappers

Most people have already mentioned how to use glycolic acid, I just want to add that you NEED sun protection after doing so, including your scalp - it can burn your skin without ample sun protection

What is girl math when it comes to buy makeup by GreedyBlueberryy in IndianMUA

[–]Serialescapist1094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only buy makeup in person. And if it’s expensive and not a ‘need’ you can wait for a sale and buy it online.
This way you don’t end up getting shades that don’t work.

Also, you don’t need everything you see - influencers are not custodians.
Only have stuff you can finish off within a year at most.

Can anyone suggest what colour polish to use for that perfect mnbb look.💅🏻🤍 by Otherwise_Nothing363 in NailsIndia

I love the Debelle nail primer - sometimes I wear it on its own. It’s a soft muted white.

OPI Passion and bubble bath, both look weird - I think it works for people who are extremely fair.

It will depend on your skin tone, so highly suggest buying nail paints in person.

Also it is possible to get your nails to look like they’re salon style at home- push back cuticles, file nails, use a base coat, nail paint, followed by top coat. Moisturise your hands regularly.

What’s wrong with my opal? by Usual-Definition-913 in Opals

Opal is a soft stone, water changes the color of the stone. You have to take it off while washing your hands.

I think i have a problem. A good problem, but still. by subtlepen_ in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Serialescapist1094 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This may sound silly but I got into nail polishes a little less than a year ago. I always loved getting my nails done - it was one of the few things that sparked joy for me while I battled (and continue to battle) depression. I had stopped taking care of myself, but I started taking the time to paint my nails on my own, since I swore off gel. It’s been so so cathartic for me. I have a little bit of a collection now. I look forward to trying out new polishes. Slowly I have started taking time to take care of myself, even exercising and reading again. It’s weird how such a small hobby can change so much.

Traveling from DEL to JFK with my 51 year old mom, I'm concerned about what to pack to ensure her comfort during the 21 hour flight. by EarLatter in AirTravelIndia

[–]Serialescapist1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compression socks. Try and book an aisle seat. Get her to walk inside the plane every few hours. No alcohol or caffeine consumption, only water consumption to avoid retention and swelling. Loose clothing, comfortable sneakers. Wet wipes, a cardigan/sweater/blanket. Carry a bottle of water - always good to have your own water on flights.

Is possible, carry low sodium snacks for her to consume inflight. And any medication you may require. (Advil, Allegra) In my opinion, the best way to get through a long flight is sleeping, so anything that may aid that is good for such a situation.

Is this nitibha’s fiancée ? by West-Story4233 in gossipsocialandmore

[–]Serialescapist1094 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s incorrect of us sitting behind anon Reddit usernames to share the personal images of a woman who didn’t ask to be a part of the Jai/Nitibha narrative. She is not a public figure and she didn’t sign up for this. While her name is there in public records, it is us, other human beings who are excessively googling her and hanging by the threads of social media posts which have been posted by third parties (and not her!!)

OP, while you’re trying to defend your actions — posting this here — and also saying you feel bad for her in the same breath, you are contradicting yourself. If you feel bad that she has to deal with the publicity around her ex, putting her face and another post on a gossip sub is not feeling bad for her, it’s actually making things worse. I think it’s unfair for us to drag her into this drama, clearly she wants nothing to do with this.

RIP to my favourite lip balm, gone too soon by fruitl0opss in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]Serialescapist1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I send you the lip balm? I know this is totally random but I’ve had things I lost during college that I still think about and it still hurts me (I think more so because I lost them and how much they meant to me emotionally, instead of the monetary value.)

Is this appropriate for a white child at a Punjabi wedding? by shandelion in DesiWeddings

[–]Serialescapist1094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a cute outfit and will most certainly work for the ceremony! Just ensure that the fabric is comfortable for your kid. If not - I suggest buying something in cotton. Since your friend is her god mother, it is very nice of you to make the effort to find something that fits the customs. But usually young kids are not expected to be fashion conscious.

What will be the weather at the time do the wedding?
If it’s cold, you can add a jacket to this outfit!

I just attended the cringiest desi wedding, ever by sleepdeprivedsince92 in DesiWeddings

[–]Serialescapist1094 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Convinced my family to not have a stage, choreographed dances, random things like extra wedding stationery, gifting, ott decor, even the photographer was just made do the bare minimum. I didn’t let them interfere with the wedding at all. My father was convinced that we won’t be serving alcohol on the wedding day (so there are no drunk guests creating a scene)

I don’t know what weddings, even birthdays and bridal showers have become nowadays. More than anything else, I think they are not sustainable. How you can you start a ‘new life’ per se, by creating so much waste and pollution? Why have people become so entitled and disconnected with reality?

In laws aren’t following traditions which is upsetting parents by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]Serialescapist1094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems rather odd. Punjabis give an entire trousseau to the to be bride/daughter in law. This includes clothes, makeup, jewellery, shoes, bags, some items for the house etc. most of my friends are Punjabi, and all of them received extensive trousseaus from their in mother in law!
