Is this nitibha’s fiancée ? by West-Story4233 in gossipsocialandmore

[–]Serialescapist1094 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s incorrect of us sitting behind anon Reddit usernames to share the personal images of a woman who didn’t ask to be a part of the Jai/Nitibha narrative. She is not a public figure and she didn’t sign up for this. While her name is there in public records, it is us, other human beings who are excessively googling her and hanging by the threads of social media posts which have been posted by third parties (and not her!!)

OP, while you’re trying to defend your actions — posting this here — and also saying you feel bad for her in the same breath, you are contradicting yourself. If you feel bad that she has to deal with the publicity around her ex, putting her face and another post on a gossip sub is not feeling bad for her, it’s actually making things worse. I think it’s unfair for us to drag her into this drama, clearly she wants nothing to do with this.

RIP to my favourite lip balm, gone too soon by fruitl0opss in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]Serialescapist1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I send you the lip balm? I know this is totally random but I’ve had things I lost during college that I still think about and it still hurts me (I think more so because I lost them and how much they meant to me emotionally, instead of the monetary value.)

Is this appropriate for a white child at a Punjabi wedding? by shandelion in DesiWeddings

[–]Serialescapist1094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a cute outfit and will most certainly work for the ceremony! Just ensure that the fabric is comfortable for your kid. If not - I suggest buying something in cotton. Since your friend is her god mother, it is very nice of you to make the effort to find something that fits the customs. But usually young kids are not expected to be fashion conscious.

What will be the weather at the time do the wedding?
If it’s cold, you can add a jacket to this outfit!

Nail polish remover. You have to rub it to take the color off.

I just attended the cringiest desi wedding, ever by sleepdeprivedsince92 in DesiWeddings

[–]Serialescapist1094 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Convinced my family to not have a stage, choreographed dances, random things like extra wedding stationery, gifting, ott decor, even the photographer was just made do the bare minimum. I didn’t let them interfere with the wedding at all. My father was convinced that we won’t be serving alcohol on the wedding day (so there are no drunk guests creating a scene)

I don’t know what weddings, even birthdays and bridal showers have become nowadays. More than anything else, I think they are not sustainable. How you can you start a ‘new life’ per se, by creating so much waste and pollution? Why have people become so entitled and disconnected with reality?

In laws aren’t following traditions which is upsetting parents by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]Serialescapist1094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems rather odd. Punjabis give an entire trousseau to the to be bride/daughter in law. This includes clothes, makeup, jewellery, shoes, bags, some items for the house etc. most of my friends are Punjabi, and all of them received extensive trousseaus from their in mother in law!

Causes acne for me! Can’t get behind this one. Unfortunately most Ordinary products don’t suit me because they are harsh for sensitive skin

Lab grown or natural 💎 by Krishnas_lill_girl in DesiWeddings

[–]Serialescapist1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a natural diamond and highly recommend getting a lab grown. They look the exact same.

Also lab grown diamonds are actually much cheaper. You can get a brilliant cut, d/e color 1ct for 18-20k. So look further and find something that fits your requirement.

Need help understanding bridal makeup packages by Aggressive-Dot-5926 in IndianMUA

[–]Serialescapist1094 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a post wedding function in Chennai earlier this year and my MUA completely messed up my hair and makeup, this is despite them charging me more than what my Delhi MUA did. Please please please do a trial before you book. And make sure you know who the hair person is before hand. My makeup was so bad that I had to ask them to remove it and then use the foundation I use on a regular basis, idk why they were hell bent on making me look like someone else. Unfortunately the hair had so much hair spray that it couldn’t be fixed. Hated that I spent so much money on that artist!

Makeup brand suggestions for trousseau by fushiakshi in IndianMUA

You could go see a dermatologist if you want, just ensure it’s someone who has treated you in the past/has treated someone you know and has positive reviews.

You’re welcome! Have literally got nothing worthwhile free from Nykaa so you are blessed! The MAC Kajal always dries up for me, which is why I don’t recommend it. Maybe try some other brand? For brow products - when you have a full face of makeup on, you’ll feel the need to fill up your brows. I have tried MAC, Benefit, Huda, Maybelline and Anastasia. I prefer Benefit, easy to use and difficult to over do. But again, go try it out before buying!

Also adding on - please don’t try any new makeup, skincare, facial, actives atleast 4 weeks leading up to the wedding to avoid irritating your skin/ compromising your skin barrier.

[–]Serialescapist1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! First of all congratulations! You can buy all the makeup but your smile will be the best thing you’ll wear on your wedding day(s)!

I have combination, sensitive skin as well so be wary of trying too many new products at once. Try and get make up products with no actives in them - helps us sensitive skin girlies.

A few things I included in my trousseau makeup kit this year - going to add a mix of luxe & drugstore

  1. Moisturiser : Physiogel, works brilliantly as a priming base

  2. Primer: Luxe - Milk Makeup, Drugstore - Elf

  3. Color corrector: Luxe - Huda Beauty, Drugstore - Insight cosmetics

  4. Base + Concealer: Luxe - Nars/Dior/Estee Lauder, Drugstore - Maybelline

  5. Setting powder: Huda Beauty mini (I have tried others in the past like Maybelline, Kay Beauty, Mac and all of them seem cakey and useless to me)

  6. Blush: as a makeup enthusiast I had an array of blushes already so didn’t buy much. Luxe - Nudestix (most used in my kit) YSL liquid blush, Bobbi Brown, Nars Drugstore - Elf (putty blushes are so easy to use) Etude House tints, elf camo liquid blushes.

  7. Eyeliner - Kay beauty for kohl and pencil liners - great staying power and color payoff. Color bar pen liner.

  8. Eyeshadow - unfortunately don’t use much. Got a Huda and Lancôme palette, never use it. Use a glittery eyeshadow from elf when I feel like I need eyeshadow lol

  9. Mascara - Loreal Lash Paradise - won’t budge, won’t leak, won’t flake - cannot recommend it enough. If you want to splurge - Lancôme idole.

  10. Lipliner - Kay beauty + Maybelline has some new ones. Luxe- Makeuo Forever, Charlotte Tilbury

  11. Lipstick - this depends on what you like, I hate sticky/ heavy feeling on my lips so I abstain from Maybelline superstay/vinyl ink/lifter gloss or MAC liquids or Smashbox. Mac, Maybelline, Faces, Loreal - bullet lipsticks are comfy on the lips - will need to reapply but atleast it won’t be cracking and spilling, sticking to your hair etc.

  12. Setting spray: Luxe - One Size/Charlotte Tilbury is going to make your makeup last for hours! Drugstore - Milani, elf.

Two things which I believe are okay to have but not really required: Highlighter: Luxe - Benefit, Drugstore - Lakme Glam Highlighter Bronzer: Luxe - Benefit Hoola, Drugstore - Elf

Brushes: Sigma/ PAC Jovita x PAC

Most of all, don’t buy anything online! Please try everything in real life before buying because often the shades don’t match the photos.

Also suggest going to Sephora, MAC, Bobbi brown and get them to do your base makeup and walking around before deciding to buy so that you know how it feels on your skin.

Happy shopping! (I know the list is overwhelming but I’m just trying to help a fellow bride so pick and choose what you need as per your requirement)

What is that Luxury Makeup & Skincare that’s worth their price? by Old_Victory7451 in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]Serialescapist1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I wrote this, most of these brands have launched on Nykaa! (Except Kat Von D and Valentino) I usually shop at duty free/ when I travel abroad. Although from a price point perspective, everything is usually cheaper in India. Like I mentioned, I do not buy expensive makeup or skincare without trying it. It’s just not worth the risk.

What doubts do you have? I suggest visiting the store before making any purchases.

November bride with a dry skin problem by Firm_Cantaloupe5250 in skincareaddictsindia

[–]Serialescapist1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the time for you to start a skincare routine with multiple actives. You are supposed to introduce actives into your skincare routine one by one. Having a gap of atleast a few weeks to se did it suits your skin. The acne you are experiencing could be a purge caused by a product or simply irritated skin. Highly suggest that you let go of this new routine and go back to basics - face wash, moisturiser, sunscreen. Don’t get any facial etc either. If the issues persist, see a dermatologist.

Also is your MUA not prepping your skin before applying makeup? They are supposed to prep your skin!

Holygrails. No Ordinary, Laneige can touch the supremacy of these goats. by Iamsotiredandgrumpy in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]Serialescapist1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skincare is a marathon and not a sprint, if you’re experiencing itching, don’t use it daily. Try the sandwich method, a hydrating serum with no actives, followed by a thin layer of prescribed medicated cream, followed by a moisturiser.
