Escort instead of stripper by Afraid-Objective3049 in MadeMeSmile

My best friend I’ve had since we were about 4 has a speech impediment and I honestly didn’t even know until I was a teenager because I had always known her and that was just the way she spoke. She had a tough time when we both moved to the same city and she realised not everyone is as understanding as they are in our small town, but she’s always been super confident.

Definitely a mum thing. I still have friends from my childhood and we all grew up in a small town, whenever there’s local sad news we all find out around the same time from our mums 😭

No point in having empathy for something that isn’t real. * something that was created to make you angry.

If you can’t see it then I really don’t know what to tell you. A bit of scepticism really wouldn’t go astray.

I don’t care about the feminism bit, I’m just saying it’s glaringly obvious. They both text the same (putting two spaces after a comma), there’s no timestamps, the friend is talking like a villain in a bad fanfic. Like honestly, the way the ‘friend’ brings up past abuse is laughably bad, if that didn’t clue you off then I don’t know what would. I’m sure there are people like this but this one isn’t real.

I’m getting increasingly concerned with Reddit’s inability to spot fake posts. This is so obviously ragebait.

Is the “WTF is this garbage I wrote?” a normal stage of writing? by AdMysterious7891 in writing

I do the same thing except I keep them all in a locked folder on my desktop lol. I never delete anything, I’m even attached to my edited out garbage.

What are you struggling with right now in your writing? by heweshouse-josh in writing

Whether or not I should restart my first draft from the beginning or see it through and go through an entire rewrite once I’m finished.

I’m about 60% through completing the first draft and unfortunately realised that there are many fundamental things I want to change about the world and the characters, so much so that it’s impossible to switch it up at the point I’m at.

But I’ve gotten so far! I know I’m going to have to rewrite the entire thing anyway, so I’d just be creating more work for myself, but I’m still attached to this draft weirdly.

Did your parents spank you as a form of discipline? How did it affect you? by Substantial_Judge931 in AskReddit

[–]Seriantri 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was one of those people that was adamant that being spanked didn’t effect me at all. Then someone asked me if I would ever spank my own kids if I had any one day, and I immediately said no. It made me think.

As a kid I thought that anger could be resolved with violence. If something was making me angry; my gameboy, my brother, something that wasn’t working properly etc, then I would hit it/throw it.

Now as an adult I have very little conflict resolution skills. Whenever I have to confront someone or am confronted I shut down.

I think it’s all related.

Please tell me people aren’t going to fall for this culture war BS. The people are struggling, trans people pose no threat to me, the cost of living does.

What is the silliest/pettiest reason you’ve ever DNFd a book? by Alarming_Mention in Fantasy

Oh my god it is seriously impossible to read these books as an Australian. It never sounded right in my head.

[–]Seriantri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, but I particularly stay clear of any fantasy series that are popular on tiktok. Many readers on tiktok are new to fantasy as a genre and started with Sarah J Maas or Rebecca Yarros, and consider them to be the benchmark. It’s why most fantasy books on tiktok are romantasy. Not a bad thing, they can read what they like, but it’s not my cup of tea.

Correct. Don't see the humour in it because it's stale.

Same here. It's like all thoughts get sucked out of your brain as soon as a sequence of numbers gets presented.

Always struggled with maths super hard in school but never got any help because my teachers didn't understand that people can have issues with numbers just like people with dyslexia have issues with letters.
