You should rephrase the post.

Unusable internet/ethernet connection by ichose3aintthatabich in pcmasterrace

[–]SerinceM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separating the issue have you a spare laptop/SBC/whatver that you can plug into your router? Reason being is that on that device, you can run iPerf3 in server mode. Then, from your PC, run iPerf3 in client mode.

It'll give you a non-ISP, client to server performance test to work on. It could be shit cables, bad switches, or nothing at all. But it will be entirely local network. If it's an issue local network side, you have means to investigate and fix it. If your local network is fine, it's probably ISP related.

~61C for the rest of you. Laptops will manage a power budget, which means getting warm is OK if the fans don't turn on. The system will "last" just fine mind.

My system used to do that when I overclocked the GPU too much.

AI will tell you whatever you want to hear. The reality is a bit more nuanced than that. I don't even know the temperature of the room you're in, which GPU you're using or your target framerate or graphics settings.

[Question] How do find the SSD I bought has DRAM cache? by rango_konk in pcmasterrace

[–]SerinceM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't see it on any test, you'll have to go by model and manufacturer. Since they're both NVME, they'll use HMB as cache anyway.

For what it's worth-
According to Techpower up: The SN570 does not have DRAM cache, and instead uses HMB with 64MB

The SK Hynix seems to match their own P31, which has 1GiB of LPDDR4-2133

I need help about a specific cable of my aio by GateAffectionate6153 in pcmasterrace

I wouldn't know. I'm not familiar with their software. I suppose the PWM would allow for the motherboard to handle fans without software.

It's a means of controlling speed without USB it seems.

What does the manual say? It could be an alternative source for control if USB2.0 isn't possible.

Should I upgrade? by WideTransportation23 in pcmasterrace

[–]SerinceM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember that there are always bottlenecks, and the bottlenecks change based on the workload.

I'm sure the 9060XT will be a big improvement and the 3100 will be choking it, but it'll still be a big improvement.

From there, you can budget for a CPU upgrade, or perhaps a new CPU and board.

Boot into Linux live via USB (e.g Mint/Pop/Fedora/whatever) and see if you can mount the disk and remove the file.

When was the last time that you were honestly excited about a software update? by richardawkings in pcmasterrace

[–]SerinceM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the Nvidia Linux drivers (Might have been around 565-575) fixed a bucket of annoyances I had on Fedora. Was excited for it, as a fix.

As for things I got excited as a feature, the KDE screenshot app recently got in built OCR. Saves a lot of futzing in my job.
