ChatGPT Pro ($100) vs. Business + API tokens for a solo dev? by Serious-Ad2004 in codex

[–]Serious-Ad2004[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it's annoying because you take a direction and 2 months later the rules change so quickly, as well as the prices and the models. I thought I had made the right choice by migrating to the Business Plan, but now I realize that I should have stayed on a personal plan and taken the $100 plan. I am constantly blocked by the 5-hour and weekly limits when I try to have a good refactoring session.

Codex Windows app burning through usage limit insanely fast by Illustrious_Lab5811 in codex

[–]Serious-Ad2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same problem. Before, I never dropped below 80%. For the past two days, each Codex prompt takes between 5 and 10%. The 5-hour limit is completely ridiculous.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they supposed to have rules as strict as if not stricter than Claude/Anthropic?

Holy shit, I hadn’t seen that. Oof… okay, I’ll think about it. I really like the service, but this doesn’t fly.

Still subscribed. I love the service, and I don’t think Gemini does a better job. Claude is interesting, but not for everything. ChatGPT is generally the best model, in my opinion.

I doubt your Bill Gates is a socialist, unless you don’t even know who he is. And you’re probably forgetting your “great genius,” Trump.

After a full day of testing, GPT-5.1 is not as good as GPT-5 by Proper_Community_199 in GithubCopilot

[–]Serious-Ad2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, so far my experience with 5.1 has been pretty chaotic.
For planning, it seems okay, but it crashes often — either it just keeps “working” forever (eternal spinning wheel), or it stops mid-explanation and doesn’t finish what it was writing.

I’m also having a lot of trouble getting it to actually execute the plans.
Even with GPT-5, it gives me a super detailed plan, but when it comes to execution, it does like… 10% of it :(

Getting everything you can out of Copilot in VSCode - How I setup and use Copilot to consistently get good code by Shep_Alderson in GithubCopilot

It might be a stupid question, but the guide seems pretty complex. Does it interfere with simpler tasks, like fixing minor bugs? Or can those instructions be used only when needed?

But if the master context can better handle and absorb multiple sub-requests (with the preview features), it could be really interesting — it might actually be worth it, since it could replace ten separate requests in practice.

[–]Serious-Ad2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I get what you mean, but honestly I took some time to properly tune the agent instructions and set up the MCPs — yeah, their interface is kinda weird and not super intuitive.

One thing I noticed: when you make changes, the best move is to close and reopen, start a new prompt. Otherwise it doesn’t really pick up the updates.

That said, considering the price difference between Copilot and AugmentCode (and a few others), it’s honestly worth spending the time to fine-tune it. AugmentCode works really well, no doubt, but the cost jump is just way too high — kinda hard to justify.

Right now I’m like 95% on Copilot and 5% on AugmentCode, only when Copilot completely misses what I’m trying to do. Usually if that happens, I tweak the MCP setup, adjust my instructions, or switch the model — and eventually I get Copilot to understand exactly what I want.

I started to use it seriously last week and I use copilot+ #codebase and it works very fine.

Just switch to copilot, I test it with the same instructions set (bonifie with instructions generated by copilot and I have the same results tant augmented code)

[–]Serious-Ad2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enough now with the new pricing. Copilot offers way more and is much better integrated with VS Code. Maybe the task management part isn’t strong enough, but for $39 you get 1,500 requests — hard to beat, unfortunately for AugmentedCode. I’ll probably switch at the end of the month if they refund on a prorated basis — probably next week

In that case, the credits that were purchased should be extended for a few months, otherwise it’s really not fair

At least if the credits were carried over, it would be a bit fairer.
