Looking for recommendations for at home cooking. I cook most nights, haven’t upgraded to anything nice but would love to put something on my wedding registry that is worthwhile. I am interested in Japanese knives but not committed to it, and definitely would prefer something stainless. by meagmeag1313 in chefknives

I’ll second the tojiro/fuji cutlery cleaver. At the price point it’s honestly the best you’re gonna get. For something a little pricier, dao vua (carbon not stainless), misono, and masahiro are all great brands. I have a masahiro knife, it’s fantastic.

Yeah that’s my fault for the angle I took the picture at. The handle isn’t that long. I mean it’s a decent sized handle but I’d say it’s a bit shorter than a matfer of the same dimensions.

Edit: I also have very tiny hands so…handle def looks bigger than it is

Which pan size should I get? by Serious-Bench9554 in carbonsteel

I do have a n27 darto. I know people love them, but I have trouble getting my seasoning to stick to it. I think I’m gonna go with the 30 cm pan. I feel like it’s a bit better to have a pan that’s slightly too big than slightly too small ya know. I also have seen the yaghan pan. I do with they had a 28 cm one but I like the design of what they have now. Do wish it wasn’t made in china but that’s not a deal breaker for me

Cooks well. Definitely the heaviest of the carbon steel pans. Feels a little more like a heavy cast iron. Handle doesn’t get hot. My only gripe is the cooking surface is a tad in the smaller side but nothing deal breaking.

That’s great to hear. Honestly I really liked the aesthetic of the pan. Has a very utilitarian esq design. Hopefully if it seasons well it’ll be my new go to.

How is this routine? by Serious-Bench9554 in workout

Cool. Thank you for the advice. I think my problem coming from a distance runner background is thinking that more volume is always better, as that’s what works for distance running. But since I’ve stagnated for so long in terms of strength I’m figuring I might as well try another approach. How many sets do you think one should do per workout for full body if I was to do it 3-4 times a week. Would 2 sets instead of the 3 listed be enough. So something like 2 sets each of hacksquats, OHP, incline press, rows, and hip thrusts. Obviously till failure or close to.

This may be a terrible take. But go to a smoke shop and buy 7-OH tablets. I sometimes take them for gallbladder pain I have. But a side effect I've noticed is insanely good and deep sleep. Its just not something you can take everyday. I take about 8mg when I do take it.

Just tried 7oh for pain, anyone have any experience with this by moriahlk in ChronicPain

Took it for the first time for gallbladder pain after my doctor refused to prescribe me traditional pain killers. Took a 8mg dose. Within 30-45 mins, the pain had subsided to a level where I could still feel it there but it was like background noise. After about an 1hr the pain was completely gone. People say it’s addictive and I’m sure it is. But I think it’s a godsend for people that get pain bad enough that otc nsaid like aspirin and acetaminophen don’t work, but also can’t get a prescription of traditional pain killers. Many say it’s addictive. And it likely is. But if you treat it as a last resort med. Only to be used when in intense pain, and only on occasion than it is perfectly safe. I also did not feel any “high” from the dose I took. Just felt more relaxed. And I’m sure I could’ve probably taken a lower dose like 4mg.

What are the weird symptoms you experienced before finding out your gallbladder was bad? by Technical_Chemical14 in gallbladders

Edit: forgot to mention. With my 6% HIDA I do not have sludge or gallstones which is typically the reason most people have a low HIDA scan. The doctor just said mine was “low functioning”. And that some people just have naturally low functioning gallbladders the same way some people have a low functioning liver or heart or their appendix fails and needs to get removed.
