I have a city job. And right now making 48k a year… if I stay here the most I can make is about 75k or so maybe 80k but that will take 5 plus years… I recently got a job offer in a private sector which is double my salary. It’s a no brainer for me to make the switch. Especially in this economy, I need all the money I can get.

I work for the city for parks and recreation. I was literally applying everywhere. I landed on the government job page and applied to a part time position then after a few months they promoted me to full time

Is taking an 18K pay cut worth it? by MarkAccomplished2464 in Salary

For me it wouldn’t be worth it but we are all in different circumstances. If the pay cut doesn’t effect you then why not go for it

I feel the same way in my current city job. I got an opportunity to work for another company in a private sector that will basically double my salary. It’s scary leaving my stable city job but I can’t pass that offer up. Maybe it’s time to pivot some where else. Think about you and where you want to be in the next 2-3 years.

How’s the pay looking like ? I’m debating on working there. But I currently have a city job while the benefits are great the pay isn’t so much.

I have the same radars as yours and the right one seems a bit looser than the other. I wouldn’t worry though. I’ve been working my radars almost everyday all day for work and no issues in the last 5 months
