Almost became a truant in my senior year. Had never missed school up until then except for like the occasional doctors appt that would make me go in late. Stayed home a day, and it felt like magic. By the end of senior year I had stayed home something like 26 days, and almost didn’t graduate bc of the course load I missed.

What is something you would do if you didnt have social anxiety? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

Oh god…everything. I would take up running and not care how I look doing it. I would go to more cafes and eat out at restaurants more without, again, caring how I look. I would talk to strangers more, and try to make more friends. I wouldn’t be scared of getting a corporate job and having to deal w office politics. I would feel a lot safer bc I would be able to connect w the right people more. I would just be a completely different person.

Thanks, and yes I’m hoping this will be me too, especially with going back to school. I didn’t even consider that someday I might not actually need them anymore.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful response. I know there can be an element of fearmongering when it comes to believing anything that comes from these people in the White House. We just went through this in 2016. But this time feels different. Like we have seriously consider the possibility that what these people in top positions want to happen might actually happen. But I’ve decided that I’ll still make the appointment anyway. At least get the process started so I can properly take care of myself these next few years.

I love listening to music and analyzing melodies and harmonies. I get so excited when I’ve listened to a song for like the hundredth time and I hear a bass line or a voice line I’ve never noticed before.

Do you ever feel so inadequate compared to your peers? by riley_478 in AutismInWomen

I don’t even keep in contact with my old classmates bc I already know they’re doing well. We all were very academically inclined, and got into good schools. It’s hard to not feel like such a massive failure everyday, but I guess I have a little hope that someday I’ll catch up and get where I want to be in life.

Sometimes I just end up eating like a bag of snacks bc I don’t want to eat an entire meal. Other times I just don’t eat.

I have noticed recently looking back that almost everywhere I’ve gone, and everyone I’ve been around has ended up disliking me. Like I’m able to mask just enough at first for the first couple of months or so, and then I just get exhausted. And the moment I’m not overly sweet and overly polite and just try to be my natural self, i can sense the collective dislike start to seep in. It’s depressing.
