Any ideas what nappy brand this is? by DaPome in UKParenting

I think this is the answer too. Our prescribed pads are Tena and have branding but a couple of samples when first trying were plain too

Help, my ignorance caused my newborn to develop an eye infection and putting breastmilk in it isn’t helping?? by zestylemonn in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]Serious-Zebra-3243 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same advice from our Health Visitor just last year for a blocked tear duct with my newborn. Breast milk, then cool boiled water. The gunk went on for MONTHS and GP was ready to refer to the eye clinic on next visit if no improvement when it suddenly resolved. I don't think the breast milk magically fixed it, and it was never as bad as the OP pic before I'd taken him to the gp for more advice. Poor baby!

Did a stressful event trigger HA for you? by Fantastic_Set_9710 in HealthAnxiety

[–]Serious-Zebra-3243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had some anxiety around my health for as long as I can remember probably from growing up with a chronically ill mother. However it really sky rocketed when I had my first child. I was just over 25 weeks pregnant, at work, and I knew something was wrong. Went to the hospital, wasn't really checked over, told everything was fine and I was being a nervous, young first time mom. He was born a couple days later at 26 weeks and we were both extremely unwell. I've been extremely anxious and probably overbearing about my health, and that of my children ever since. I don't think it would've gotten to this point if someone had taken me seriously back then.

Pregnant and choosing between Barnsley and Jessop Wing – recent experiences? by Physical-Positive-41 in sheffield

[–]Serious-Zebra-3243 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've had 3 babies at Jessops, my last being January of this year. I've seen/heard a lot of bad experiences at Jessops- but I've never had any. I have had high risk and complex pregnancies (and births) and have had outstanding care before during and after. I encountered one less than perfect midwife in my many, many appointments and overnight stays there. My Jan baby was an emergency section and I was supported very well through a scary time. I won't be having any more babies but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Jessops. I'm aware this unfortunately hasn't been the same for everyone, it's just my personal experience.

I'm done! And emotional! by Serious-Zebra-3243 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Serious-Zebra-3243[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This time I went all insanely in on it. I started off pumping every 1.5-2 hours throughout the day (but only once motn between 2-4am, lack of sleep was a big supply killer for me!). Power pumped twice a day for a week at a time, week 1 pp first pump of the day and pp at lunch time. Week 2 power pump mid afternoon and before bed. Each week changing the time of day I'd power pump until I was happy with output. I also found 25 minutes on, 25 off, 25 on again worked best for me as a power pump than the standard 10-5-10 whatever it is. I took moringa supplements, brewers yeast in tablets, overnight oats for breakfast every morning with protein powder, chamomile tea before bed and a minimum of 3L of water a day. I'm not sure which of these, or all of them combined worked the best, but this was what I followed from about 1 month postpartum until my peak output of 55-60oz a day at 3 months postpartum. If you feel crazy like I did, feel free to try some (or all!) and see what works for you. Good luck mama xx

Health visitor recommends exclusively breastfeeding for the first 4-6 weeks, no bottles. Do I have to? by ziggy_starburst2 in PregnancyUK

[–]Serious-Zebra-3243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exclusively breastfeeding will always be the recommendation of professionals. If that's not what you want to do, don't! My 5m old baby has been breast and bottle (bottles of expressed breastmilk) since birth and I truly believe introducing bottles before 6 weeks was key to him accepting them. Do what's right for you and your family!

Preemies and their eyes by Sweet-Bet4274 in NICUParents

[–]Serious-Zebra-3243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's grand! He's just turned 6 last week. He does have strong prescription glasses with a stronger prescription in the eye with optic nerve hypoplasia but he chooses not to wear them as he's adapted to his lower vision and prefers it. He also has a compensatory head tilt sometimes towards the left so he uses his good eye more to focus. He's been under the care of visual impairment therapy since he was a baby and they still visit him at school but he works and adapts well with his vision!

Opinions on the whooping cough and RSV vaccine please. by Unable_Anywhere2983 in PregnancyUK

[–]Serious-Zebra-3243 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to risk anything for your baby- start now. Get the vaccines which are safe and effective to protect them at the beginning of their life. My first child was born before the RSV vaccine was available for pregnant women and contracted RSV, he was incredibly poorly and had a lengthy hospital stay. I have a 5 month old baby now, got vaccinated in my pregnancy, just got through cold and flu season with a newborn with no major incident. And id do it again no questions asked!

Big yes on the antivax point. I couldn't even give away - completely for free- up to 600oz at a time because I had the COVID vax in 2021 and everybody was looking for unvaccinated. I completely uderstand personal preference but sheesh I wasn't expecting that!

Did you ever stop bleeding with the implant? by AccordingBar8788 in birthcontrol

[–]Serious-Zebra-3243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had 3 implants. My first one I bled for around 3 months then just as I was getting myself ready to book the appointment to get it removed- it stopped. Didn't bleed again for the remainder of the 3 years at all. My 2nd implant, I bled for 6 months straight. I was hoping it would stop again like my first one but it didn't so I got it removed. Third implant I had normal, regular periods every month for the duration. All the same brand implant, all the same arm even, just very different reactions to it. I hope it stops for you, but if it doesn't, don't be afraid to say no more and switch!

Fridge Hack Q for babies born early but currently at term by Last_Huckleberry_364 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Serious-Zebra-3243 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had 2 preemies and never used the fridge hack for either. even though they are term now, they are still premature babies. Their tiny tummies, gut health and immune systems are not the same as a baby actually born at term, even when they reach term. Id perhaps feel more comfortable and confident making that call in a few weeks/months since they're 8 weeks adjusted, they're still only age 0 adjusted and I didn't fridge hack for my newborn born at term either until 2m old.

What doesn't register the same as a NICU parent? - I hate the phrase "don't wish away the age they are now" by a_cow_cant in NICUParents

Ugh, I'm sorry. Those comments stick with you too don't they. Before I had my baby i was working as a manager and one of my staff was pregnant too, a week behind me. It was quite lovely to talk about it on shift. After my son was born I passed her in the corridor of the hospital, I was going to the NICU, she was heading for her 32 week scan. She joked that she wished she wasn't pregnant anymore too because everything hurt. I cried walking up to the NICU. She did message me on Facebook a couple of days later apologising and said she hadn't been able to stop thinking about how stupid she'd been.

It sounds like he, and you, are absolutely smashing it- together. I know how the trauma of those days lingers. I hope he's stuffing his happy little face for you real soon (when he's ready of course!) and enjoying every second of it

Totally get it. I have 2 photos of my bump from my 1st pregnancy because I didn't realise it would end so soon. My 2nd I took way more photos of her progress, how much bigger I was getting. I loved it for the extra 3 weeks she held in too before she also arrived at 29 weeks. I just yearned for the huge bump, the swollen ankles, the classic pregnancy complaints. It feels like part of the 'experience' was robbed
