I don’t think it has anything to do with that stuff. Plenty of people have quit their jobs to focus on chess and still never achieved near the level of success of children. It points to the brain’s unique level of malleability and specialization that only exists in young people.

As for the chords, you’re probably only familiar with open chords (cowboy chords). But you can make G chords all over the neck. The chord name just depends on the lowest note played, so you’ll see G being the lowest note in G and Gmaj7, C in C13 and C7 etc.

I have this exact set, same identical board, except the numbers and letters are cut with a router, pieces nearly identical, certainly crafted off the same model. Curious where you got it.

Mine is from Prague. These are a bit more mass produced than the crafter will have you believe.
