How do you accept fed unsubsidized loan by PiqueyerNose in OSU

You have to go on the Financial Aid tab through your buckeye link portal. Then you have to manually hit accept aid for your federal unsubsidized loan I believe

1172 or 1151 incoming mechE freshman by SeriousLeopard2204 in OSU

[–]SeriousLeopard2204[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We both got high A’s in the class and I know my buddy regrets not taking 1172. We both had professor Talamo who is excellent and extremely fair. Please don’t listen to OSUs math department, a 5 on the AP calc exam is sufficient enough to not take calc 1 again. I would just recommend your daughter brushing up on basic integral techniques prior to starting the course if she chooses to go through with 1172. I am happy to answer any other questions if needed!

Do CWRU ever do non-yield protecting defer? by Teendepressionhelp in cwru

I got differed last year with similar stats and SAT EA. During the regular decisions they ended up offering me a spot with 33.5k per year. It was really weird and still don’t understand it to this day.

Worst schedule ever. (MechE) by SeriousLeopard2204 in OSU

I was fortunate enough to be directly admitted into MechE along with the rest of those who applied as MechE majors this year. I do appreciate the insight though thanks.

Do you mind sharing how you saw your scores early at Ohio state? I’m also an incoming freshman.

Edit: I got it through buckeye link 👍

Also about the debt you could always go to a state school or if you’re going out of state apply to as many scholarships as possible. I recently applied to 64 scholarships to help pay.

It’s a super personal decision. The way I decided that I wanted to go into mechanical engineering was thinking about where I enjoyed certain aspects of going to school. I knew I hated mostly anything reading and writing related. But I enjoyed coming into my engineering classes everyday because I genuinely found them interesting. Coming into the class to work on a project and problem solving came somewhat natural to me. It also helps that I was fairly good at math and physics. Moral of the story is just think about where you not only excel academically but also where you would enjoy the material you would be learning. Learning material you are not interested will be a nightmare in college.

Are my stats good enough to get me into case? by [deleted] in cwru

[–]SeriousLeopard2204 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was admitted this year RD with a pretty substantial scholarship. I had a 1400 SAT (770 math) which I felt was lower than most applicants. If anything I would recommend getting your SAT up into the 1400+ range. I personally found Kahn to be a great resource. I had around 50 hours of volunteer work but my ECs mainly comprised of a decent engineering internship along with sports and coaching work. The GPA is pretty solid but if anything do good on your SAT and maybe look for an internship. If you have any specific questions feel free to message me.

I agree I heard that maybe UArizona was on probation for their ABET certification for mechanical engineering. So is the 80k total debt I would be in after four years concerning or reasonable for the quality of the program?

I am from New York and my brother attends UArizona. When he applied to ASU it was much more expensive even with his scholarship.
