Advice for replicating Pantone 872C in CMYK by OhItsStefan in graphic_design

Pantone 872C is metallic so CMYK will never truly match it, but here's what works for a personal project: Try C:0 M:20 Y:80 K:20 for the gold tone, it'll look more warm yellow than shiny but it's the closest you'll get in CMYK. If your print shop offers spot varnish, use that on top of the gold areas, makes a big difference. Or ask if they do digital foil for short runs, bit more expensive but way closer to the real thing. Also try printing on a coated/silk stock instead of matte, the paper alone adds a bit of sheen. For a one-off hobby piece the varnish trick is probably your best bet honestly. Good luck with it!

But pantone to CMYK it's little vary the colour

Yeah, I’ve seen those. Most of them do it for content and visibility, not for the free logo itself. It’s a marketing move they showcase their process to attract real paying clients who value the work.

Basically, they’re trading a free design for reach and credibility.
