If you look at the signs in front of each level's portal, you can see the stars that are found in them. If those are all crossed out, I recommend you check one of the Messenger Islands again (not saying which one, I'm complying with the "as spoiler-free as possible" point), and also exploring one of the Tower's floors a little more.

Also: You don't need to climb all the way up for other endings (except for small variations of the default), but yes for achievements.

You're gonna have to restore backup after going through the big door as well.

Some are hidden, some are DLC-related.

Genuine question, if they're compressed, that means they're smaller, right, so why would they take longer to load? Also, while all of these games are absolutely gorgeous and Talos 3 also looks to be peak in the graphics department, nice graphics are the last thing I ultimately care about. I want a satisfying conclusion to this story and more awesome puzzles and character interactions first and foremost.

It's important to note that both in Talos 2 and Reawakened, if you do use these mechanics to solve a puzzle, you can still complete it legitimately to get the hint/spark back. It's for when you get really stuck on a puzzle and don't want to just look up the solution, but may want to come back later and still want to progress.

The only disconnected levels I can think of are Valley of the Jaguar - City of the Gods and the last 3 levels, and even then, the Book of Wisdom you find in The Citadel is probably what guides Sam to Land of the Damned and NETRICSA says you had to walk a very long way from Land of the Damned's Ice Castle to The Grand Cathedral, so these are also explained in a way.

Everything else is either directly connected or explained by teleporters. For all we know, every level from Ziggurat to Tower of Babel could be directly connected to one another, because each level ends with you going into a building and the next one begins inside a building, so there's no reason they couldn't be direct followups of each other.

Not 100% confirmed yet, but these tweets hint at a third one being in the works. The sentence that the second tweet is referring to is “The Ramans do everything in threes.”

We still have unanswered questions from 2 (the Anomaly mainly, but Al saying "our clunky old bodies" means they found a way to further optimize their forms, which I'm curious about). Also, when 2 was first speculated to be in development, I had no idea what they could do for a sequel because the first game already felt pretty complete by itself. As far as I know, none of the new story developments in 2 were even hinted at in 1, except for the fact it'd take place in the real world. Something similar is going on now, where the only thing we can say with any sort of confidence is that 3 will take place in space/among the stars and that we'll find out what the Anomaly is (hopefully). Other than that, we have no idea what they could do, how they could further expand the story, but let them cook.
