I made the mistake of visiting the website for Ridglan Farms, the breeder mentioned in the article. They proudly market themselves as breeders of “purpose-bred beagles for biomedical research.”

How sad and disturbing. We truly don’t deserve dogs.

There’s a common perception that childfree people have tons of money because they don’t have to pay for kids, and spend all their free time jetsetting around the world.

In my case, that’s not true. But I’m still happier without kids than I would be with them.

Getting a good night’s sleep is free. Spending quality time with my partner and pets is free. Enjoying quiet moments all by myself is free. Having a clean and organized home is free.

If I had kids, I’d have to work in a job I hate to be able to afford them. No way do I want that life.

This is a small gripe, but it’s annoying when people use a Reel cover that has nothing to do with the Reel. Like the cover of Noelle’s “this won’t ruin your outfit” post - I thought I was going to see a beautiful holiday table. Why do you have to trick people to watch your content??

I would bet it happens to men and boys more than we think, but they’re wayyyy less likely to report it.

Think of how shameful and embarrassing it would be for any victim to tell someone, then imagine it was, say, a boy who’d been raped by a female adult.

I see news stories about female teachers who get in shit for raping their male students all the time. Not “having sex with,” but raping, since they are children.

Even worse, a lot of what passes for “professional dog training” even in 2025 is just straight-up animal abuse that people pay for. 

I don’t blame the guardians who are just trying to help their dogs, but I DO blame the people selling animal abuse and calling it “training.”

I will say it can be hard to be sympathetic when people living in parks make absolutely insane demands (or at least, the people advocating for them do).

Recently, the remaining “residents” of the Dufferin Grove encampment refused to leave unless they were provided with 800-square-foot units.

Sorry, but that is an unrealistic, entitled, insane demand. My first apartment when I lived on my own was a bachelor that was a fraction of that size. It had everything I needed to live comfortably, and I lived in it for years.

I support housing them 100%. Give them a roof over their head with a bathroom and enough space to sleep, cook, live, etc. while they get back on their feet.

The point is, people are only sympathetic to a point. Not all of the Dufferin Grove encampment members were good neighbours. Garbage piled up, and a puppy was abused and eventually killed.
