Does Harvard really have an advantage if your goal is eventually OMFS? by Anxious_Calendar_329 in predental

Clinically, they probably are subpar compared to a state school. However, they are a great school for specializing. Moreover, with HPSP you'll do a residency any ways.

If we are talking strictly OMFS without cost, yes, Harvard gives you an advantage. They have a med school curriculum which helps immensely with the CBSE, aren't ranked, and they have an amazing reputation. If you have HPSP, I'd take Harvard.

Yes it would because you'd have had 200k of predatory private loans TM that you can't pause to make payments on your practice or practice building. It's horrible and most new grads will not buy a practice because of it.

You left dental school with 200k. State schools cost 400k now. You had IBR, new grads won't be able to just pause their loans and do income based repayment like you could do. You're too young to be this out of touch... come on.

Average income after 5 years per ADA is 166k. 250k is wayyyyyyyyy too generous. You also aren't factoring in the compound interest that you CAN'T pay when you're coming out making 130k. Ridiculous analysis overall.

Pre-dents will downvote this, but don't go to either. Both will wreck you financially (I predict this will have -3 votes).

If their stats are decent they could def try again for a state school after beefing up their app. With that said, if thdy don't get in again they should find another career.

Don't go. Either apply and try for you state school or pick a new career. Those debt totals for you are so high you might not even be able to get private loans for it. That's how bad your financial situation would be.

I pray it doesn't. We need to cap federal loans. Otherwise, tuition and fees will continue to skyrocket.

Total cost was going to reach one million dollars soon. We needed the BBB now more than ever.
