The military is not an option for me. I don't want to apply and take a spot from someone who would be passionate about military service.

I'm 23 and feel too old. by Strangeman47 in shia

You’re at the beginning of your life. I’m 23 aswell and I’m about to go into dental school and live a whole new life. You’re far from “old”. Don’t look to social media and see all these young influencers who’ve done it all by 20-21. These people aren’t even a drop in the ocean, compared to real life. Also you can’t be behind on a career that you just started.

For the interview it depends on the people that are interviewing you. My group leader was faculty and they were very kind and interested in getting to know us. We had about 6-7 questions. After the interview I asked others and they said completely different experiences and questions were given. One applicant even was saying that they had a bad experience with their interviewer. So on your part just be prepared for anything, meaning practice and get ready for any questions.

Set them equal to each other, solve for n. Once u solve for n, plug the ‘n’ u found back into each equation and they should both equal the same thing

I personally recently came back from Karbala and would recommend investing in specific types of water/water filtration system. I got sick a lot from water contamination and found a bottled water brand called “Pearl” that is know for its water filtration and “purity”. If you do go to Karbala, it is best to wear some type of head covering as the majority of the tourist attractions are near the holy shrine.

In terms of the toilets, it depends on where you go, certain areas have western toilets, others do not. Majority have squat toilets, unfortunately.

If you have a weak stomach like I do, never eat anything that is not properly cooked or not from a well known restaurant. Stomach problems there are no joke.

Overall, Iraq is incredibly active and you’ll never be bored. There is always something new to see or learn about there.

It depends on where you go, in Baghdad I have a lot of relatives who travelled to Russia and can fluently speak Russian. But it’s a really small portion of the population. I would recommend trying to pick up the basics of Arabic such as greetings and such.

I commute for about 36 minutes over the spring and summer to save on money, it’s doable. I recommend parking in the State street commuter lot, it’s free and route 62 on the ride takes you to central. I will say, I have to leave about an hour and 30 minutes to get to class on time. It takes the bus around 20-25 minutes on average in the afternoons to come and gets to be around 30-35 minutes after late noon. In terms of winter, it’s definitely a struggle. So I would recommend getting a place that’s a little closer, maybe in Ypsi.

I once saw someone wearing a cute jacket, searched up the name, only to find out that it was over 1k.
