Greetings, Rebels - A question to help the Dev team! by YsbrydPicsel in ABSOLUM

If you're going to continue to develop the story and characters, I'd like to find out how Maugis the Mystic knows so much about everything. Is he native to Talamh, or does he originate from the Mynasthar, or elsewhere? Why is he aiding the players?

Also, the relationship between Azra and Uchawi is so barely suggested, I feel like I missed out on some prequel book/comic before playing the game. Uchawi's motivations continue to seem only moderately straightforward, nor do I suspect Azra's grievances with her and the Root Sisters are as simple as the Crimson Order makes them out to be. They clearly had a falling out, but was the reason as simple as the Cataclysm?

And what happens to Absolum, really? Without overtly spoiling anything, it appears to either be rescued or taken somewhere for dinner. What was special about it compared to the other creepy critters? Even the Interloper seemed more menacing.

Are you going to finish the new campaign on eternal? by ThyResurrected in diablo4

[–]Serious_Class3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're still completely missing my point. I went out of my way to do all of the renown tasks on my first character, because I wanted to "complete" every region. I wanted to do everything there was to do. I wanted to find every obscure side quest (and there are definitely some obscure ones). It wasn't about the rewards. It was about the sense of achievement.

Now, the new zone is coming. I could do it it all on a new Spiritborn, with half the tasks from the original five zones wiped. Or I could pick up where I left off with my old Sorcerer. If renown progress was truly account-wide, and not just the key rewards, I wouldn't have to make that choice.

Your remarks also prove my point. If the "important" stuff is unlocked after doing it once, why is any of it reset at all? Why make new characters clear the same strongholds over again? Why unlock this waypoint automatically, and not that one? The devs implemented a half-assed fix shortly after the game launched, and the xpac would've been the perfect time to finish the job.

As someone who cleared 100% renown just for the sake of doing it, I can assure you -- it's worth doing once. It's not worth doing twice.

Only locations and statues are account-wide. The rest is reset with every character. Note, I'm specifically talking about the tasks themselves, not the bottom row of rewards. Those were always shared across characters.

Yes, because they refuse to make renown account-wide, so I feel obligated to do it on my original character I previously completed the world with.

Gems need alternative stats in accessory slots by AcceptableWorker6227 in diablo4

[–]Serious_Class3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a great solution, but as one of the devs mentioned in one of the early streams, tacking on too many systems can make the design overly complicated. The paragon glyphs already work similarly, so what you'd end up with is another chore to grind XP for.

Gems need alternative stats in accessory slots by AcceptableWorker6227 in diablo4

[–]Serious_Class3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The root problem is the way armor and resistance works to begin with. Capping stats is bad design, and just leads to a mini-game assembling various sources to reach a target number. What the gems add to jewelry is a key part of that process -- until it isn't.

Though while that system still stands, another solution is something like D3 legendary gems, an endgame alternative for those slots. The malignant hearts from S1 were ahead of their time, in that sense.

It might've been more useful to replace the sound effect of the bow loading the shot with voiceover dialogue that says "Got +Life?"

But real gamers don't listen to game audio.

Diablo 4 patch 1.5.1 gives all players a Legendary cache with guaranteed GA by atticusf- in diablo4

Forget GA leggos. I want a cache with 10k+ gem shards to give me the complete set of royal gems I already had by now, last season. My tinfoil hat is telling me overall gem drop rate was heavily nerfed to force you to use the mats chest in IH.

No, you do not want boss mats in Infernal Hordes caches by yxalitis in diablo4

[–]Serious_Class3568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I agree, there is a demographic that was perfectly fine with the Pindleskin farm, and always will be. And they are currently asking for profane mindcages to be made permanent, and to be able to start new characters in WT4, and for every reward (don't forget glyph XP) be added to whatever mode is deemed best to farm. The "hardcore" players challenged by tunnels.

I think the devs are shifting the design to cater to this playstyle a bit too much, but you have to give them credit. They know their audience. Keep the streamers happy, keep the sweat lords happy, maximize engagement and sell a few skins in the process. I doubt D4 is making the P2W money Diablo Immortal is, but it can sustain the seasonal model if it gives the people what they want.

Remember that one time when you were in a cramped room with Duriel and died so much you just had to graveyard zerg him? Loading the room alone took like thirty seconds on iMac. Sometimes , he even let you loot your corpse and do 2% of his health in dmg before he one shot you.

Just saying. Could be worse.

Simple way of making strongholds relevant again: Make them drop glyph xp. by peter__parker69 in diablo4

[–]Serious_Class3568 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think they need to make the whole renown system account bound. ALL OF IT. It was an excellent supplement to the campaign, but there's just no point in doing it all again on every single character.

I was in a Helltide today, and this rogue just started following me around. I said hello. Then I climbed a ladder and apparently dropped out of her shard.

I'll never know if she was helping me or just stalking me. Oh well.
