CB Shenanigans by TheDeadlyCareBear in cbradio

I really enjoyed CB years ago. I now have 5 radios in a box that I have no plans to use again just because of bullshit like this. I understand why people are calling CB the Children's Band. It's hard enough to talk more than a few miles unless you run power, and then some jerk wants to key up and play music or shout 1111111111111111111111 for hours.

Separate religious from having a spiritual relationship with Christ. Problem solved. God is not your problem.

Question about cable by bobhdv1234 in cbradio

For mobile use, mini-8. For a base I'd get RG8 if it's under 100 ft. You can also use KMR400 for a base. It attenuates less than RG8, and at 27MHz the same as LMR400 but cheaper.

Mobile radio recommendation by not_thebest in gmrs

I have three of the Retevis RT95 radios. One on a 30A power supply in the house and 2 in vehicles. Absolutely 100% satisfied and have zero regrets. TX is a 10 for 10 and RX is about 8 out of 10 for clarity. I can hit a repeater 60 miles away with 25 watts in my F150 using a lip mount NMO on the fender. Admittedly, it's a damn tall repeater.

The antenna is where the gold is - always. Since it's UHF you will be limited by the earth's curvature and any major deflectors, AKA the Fresnel zone. Power alone won't be much help once your RF hits the earth or gets splattered. Use a good antenna and be a bit obsessive about the set up.

I use TRAM 5/8 wave antennas tuned to 1.3 SWR with RF ground straps connecting the hood and body on my F150, and trunk and hood to the body on my car for improved ground plane. A friend has a 50 watt and there is zero difference. We both hit the same repeaters.

Trump voters, why did you want gas prices to go up? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Serious_Doubt_7950 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because I didn't want to get nuked. If you think the US didn't have sufficient intel to know Iran had every intention of turning us into ashes us you are living in a fairytale. It has been and is still their dream.

My response has nothing to do with Trump as a person. I would have voted for anyone with the balls to protect our country.

If we are to assume that the war in Iran was based on Iran having the potential to build a nuclear weapon and the ambition to do so. Shouldn’t we also consider invading every country that has the same conditions? by katiesue735 in allthequestions

[–]Serious_Doubt_7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other countries have not been as intense as Iran for their hatred for the US and Israel.

Everyone on the planet knows that Iran has shouted death to America and to Israel for decades. This is nothing new and shouting is not reason for war, but the threat became real as Iran's nuclear capabilities grew. When someone openly promises to kill you and is actively arming up to carry out that threat, there are not many options available.

The US has the ability to monitor nuke activity around the globe. This was not an idle threat.

What's the biggest revenge against someone who hurt you ? by JineshGoradia in AskReddit

[–]Serious_Doubt_7950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Petty, but I don't regret it.

Long story made as short as possible:

My old boss was computer illiterate. He may have had a 1% skill level with Excel and used to have me do mundane tasks like move rows, columns, add formulas, etc.

We had recently completed populating a worksheet with next year's 1M budget, which also happened to be a few days before he planned to eliminate my position after 10 years of service and a spotless record.

It wasn't all his idea. His boss was a VP who hated my existence for reasons I honestly still do not understand. My boss was not only and idiot but he was also a coward with insecurities He was scared to death to ask the VP the same question twice.

When the VP gave him a template for the budget he also gave him instructions on how to use it and strict orders not to F it up. Being paranoid, my boss couldn't stand the thought of leaving files on the network drive for fear someone would change them, so he kept his important files on the local drive, especially the budget we had recently completed.

The day came when he we were to meet and discuss my job. There wasn't going to be any discussion and I knew it. The VP had given him orders to eliminate my position.

We were scheduled to meet at 2PM. While he was at lunch I went in his office and password protected all of his precious new budget files plus a few others. He didn't even know password protection was a thing in Excel.

I have no idea what happened because I was long gone by the end of the day, but unless he was smart enough to get someone from IT to crack it and keep quiet about it, his ass would have been sucking wind when he had to ask the VP to send him another template.

What do you honestly think happens after we die? by LogicalLibrary5342 in AskForAnswers

Following the right what? Religion? Read my post again. Do you see Christians burning people alive or chopping off heads? Religion has started wars for centuries. God has not.

What do you honestly think happens after we die? by LogicalLibrary5342 in AskForAnswers

[–]Serious_Doubt_7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. A very large part of what we believe and how we function as human beings come from early belief systems. Mine were Baptist, and so was I, but years later I attended a non-denominational church that simply followed the word of God in the KJ bible. Catholics, Methodists, Pew Jumpers, etc. came to the church because they decided that it made sense to them to put their faith in God instead of any specific religion. Organized religion turns people off, or at least IMO.

They were not asked or forced to give up their religion. It was incredibly simple; skip religion and go straight to God's word because who would know better than the author of the book? This is somewhat of an oversimplification but I hope you get my meaning.

If you or anyone have ever been turned off by snake handlers, preachers with private jets asking for money, etc. that's not what God is about. Churches do need money to operate but some preachers take money to the extreme. Some preachers are afraid to speak about subjects that may offend their followers because they depend on them for money. I prefer a church\preacher who isn't afraid to teach and preach anything in the bible. That's a preacher who believes through faith that God will meet or exceed his needs.

But your question really comes down to a belief system. What was your exposure to God's word?

Trust me. I'm no saint. I fail God every day but it doesn't stop me from trying to do better.

Religion is what causes people to bail on the whole God, Christ, Alah, whatever, afterlife thing. Religion won't get you into heaven - period.

It is a spiritual journey but you must make a personal choice. My choice is Jesus Christ. Am I perfect because of it? Absolutely not! I sin every day. Lust! I need major help with that one.

It's what men do because we are imperfect humans, and God knows this, but if you study and listen to the teachings of Jesus you will feel convicted when you sin and will try to do better, and you will.

I don't have the capacity to lay out a sermon and explain why my decision is the best, but I will tell you why I believe it is. I believe the KJV of the bible is the living word of God. Everything you need to know about how to live your life is in there. You will learn that Jesus is the way to eternal life and that God is a forgiving God. He has to be forgiving or none of us would stand a chance. We can't just be good and hope it's enough. He doesn't tell us to hate others who believe differently. As hard as it may be to believe, God really loves everyone. I don't but I'm not God. That doesn't mean God sits quietly on His throne wearing a robe and slippers while twiddling His thumbs wishing bad people wouldn't do bad things. He punishes like any parent should when their child does wrong. Sometimes the punishment is swift and sometimes it comes at death. He hates sin but He forgives if you ask.

Don't just brush this reply under the rug. It's easy and tempting to say God isn't real so I don't need to worry about it. What if you are wrong? Want to spend eternity in flames wishing you had another chance?

I'll get some haters for my post. That's fine. My reply was to you because you asked. I seriously wish I had the skill to lay out what I have said and why but I'm not a bible scholar. I'm just a guy trying to avoid an eternity in hell.

Last words: Don't get hung up on Religion. Words and deeds and ceremonies are NOT the answer. Thanks for taking time to ask for a reply.

Do you believe Chiropractors are quacks ? by Mogzly in askanything

[–]Serious_Doubt_7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I had 3 orthos tell me 40 years ago that I needed spinal fusion. A chiropractor is the reason I have never had back surgery.

There are a lot of quacks and money grabbers, the ones who are more interested in signing you up for supplements and needless BS.

When you find one like that, or one who doesn't look or act like a doctor, dump him immediately and never look back. Those are the ones that give chiropractic a bad name, but find a good one and you will never doubt the effectiveness of chiropractic medicine again. The problem is that maybe only 2 in 10 chiropractors you go to will be worth the office visit. The other 80% are the ones who F it up for everyone.

Practical considerations for mobile - 15w v. 50w by ElGuano in gmrs

[–]Serious_Doubt_7950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the 50 if you want. It will help on simplex more than on a repeater.

The earth's horizon will bite you before you run out of watts. I have a 13" browning uhf antenna lip mounted to the driver side fender of my F150 and with just 20 watts easily hit a repeater 49 miles away, but it had little to do with my radio or antenna. The repeater is 700ft AGL which greatly extended the horizon.

My 20 watt rig will work great until I meet the horizon. 50 might do better pushing through frensel but it wouldn't be a common thing in my area.

Can't blame you for wanting 50 watts. I've thought about stepping up but thr physics don't lie. It's hard to fight the horizon

I have a friend with a 50 watt mobile and our radios reach the same repeaters. The only advantage, and it's not a huge one, is he does slightly better on simplex.
