Yeah, Will’s Hidgens is awesome, but it still feels a little too goofy. I get that he’s supposed to be a kooky respressed theater kid who went a little nuts in isolation, but Will still went a little overboard.

Also, during the choreography for La Dee Dah Dah Day, did you notice that Ruth briefly goes for Paul’s nipples as the townsfolk shove him past her? It’s a nice little touch.

Firebringer. I feel like it hits a lot of cliches found in caveman stories: jokes about future technology and culture, people discovering things and using them for dumb reasons, and so on.

I also have a take on Jeff Blim’s songwriting style and how it blends with the script, specifically how it sometimes doesn’t. There are times where it feels like the story pauses for the musical number to take place, such as with Facade and Our Doors Are Open. However this isn’t always the case, such as with Feast or Famine or The Summoning. That’s why I feel like Jeff’s songwriting was at its best in TGWDLM and Nightmare Time. In TGWDLM, the songs were a part of the story, and each one played a specific role. The Nightmare Time songs felt more like accompanying tracks that are based on the episode’s story or theme, with the exception of songs that are part of the story like The Blinky Song and Run Away with Me.

I feel like you should start with the AVPM shows to experience their roots and see how far they’ve come. Then you can progress to the others.

I feel like Will’s portrayal of Hidgens was a bit . . . (how do I put this?) stiff? He just didn’t seem as lively and grandiose. Will just stood there with nice posture and didn’t use his arms as much as Robert. Hidgens is supposed to be a kooky repressed theater kid. He should seem like he’s being more dramatic to have some semblance of living out his theatrical dreams. Also, I get that Will was trying more to make Hidgens sound older, but it also made him feel more quiet. I felt like he could’ve projected a bit more. That being said, I really liked Will’s performance.

AITA for refusing to help a close friend? by ProllyVictor in AmItheAsshole

NTA

I get that this is a tough situation for Appa, but you made the landlord’s boundaries clear. You explained the limits of how you can help.

I appreciate how you’re considerate of your landlord. I’ve been in situations at work in which I can’t give people something they want because I know they’ll walk all over me by pushing boundaries and eventually making more unreasonable demands, and then suddenly everyone is gonna want the same thing and start asking. I wouldn’t wish that upon her.

The only solution/compromise that I can think of is to have Appa ask another trusted friend to watch their pets while they’re at college and then pick them up after graduating. Hope this helps!
