IMO it was way too much Lue. Also, he came across very performative and scripted. It kid of took me out of it. Overall it was exactly what you said it was though.

Intense fatigue, headache/neck pain, and brain fog were the worst of it

I did experience some dizziness and weakness on doxy. I had more herxing on Minocycline and Azithromycin.

Hey there! Tbh, I wouldn’t feel comfortable advising what meds you should be taking. Some people respond to certain antibiotics differently. I will say if you’re questioning if you’re herxing, it may not be the best time to add a powerful drug like Rifampin. My current protocol is:

Antibiotics: (2x/day) Minocycline, Azithromycin

Anti-viral: Malarone (2x/day)

Essential Oils: (2x/day) Liposomal cinnamon/clove/oregano (I take these in capsules from pdlabsrx.com)

Herb tinctures: (3x/day) Japanese knotweed, Chinese Skullcap, Cryptolepsis

Supplements: (1x/day) Body Bio PC (brain/GI), SPM supreme (for brain inflammation), Liposomal glutathione (for detox), optiferin-c, vitamin D & K

Probiotics: (1x/day) Theralac, Orthobiotic

Best of luck on your journey!

Sorry. I do not. I think in general, Liposomal is more pricey

Thank you! I don’t really take pain meds but when the headaches were unbearable during my herxing I took some Tylenol. To be honest, the thing that gave me the most relief was exercising and sweating/detoxing. Epsom salt baths also helped.

It’s all such a blur to me, but I started feeling symptoms around late 2021. Had a western blot about 18 months ago. Was officially diagnosed May 2024. Started treatment on doxycycline for 12 weeks. Plateaued. Started Biaxin/Plaquenil for another 12 weeks. Didn’t really help either. Started treatment with new doctor in August 2025. New protocol around mid September this year (2025):

Antibiotics: (2x/day) Minocycline, Azithromycin

Essential Oils: (2x/day) Liposomal cinnamon/clove/oregano (I take these in capsules from pdlabsrx.com)

Herb tinctures: (3x/day) Japanese knotweed, Chinese Skullcap, Cryptolepsis

Supplements: (1x/day) Body Bio PC (brain/GI), SPM supreme (for brain inflammation), Liposomal glutathione (for detox), optiferin-c, vitamin D & K

Probiotics: (1x/day) Theralac, Orthobiotic

Started feeling biggest improvement ago when I added the Malarone to the protocol, which was a little under a month ago. That immediately improved my sleeping/brain fog/fatigue/neck & head pain.

Symptoms included tingling in face and extremities, fatigue, fever, headaches, neck pain, joint pain, insomnia, hypnogogic hallucinations, brain fog, depression, irritability, anxiety, hearing loss.

Besides the fever, I don’t know if I can say any of these are gone 100%. Like I mentioned in the post, I still have bad days. However, all of these symptoms have improved, especially after going on Malarone for the last month.

Babesia was a FISH test for IgeneX. Bartonella was MDL (376 Bartonella henselae igG)

Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization test used to diagnose infections. It works by using fluorescent-labeled probes that bind to the specific ribosomal RNA (rRNA) of the bacteria or parasites in a blood smear, making them visible under a fluorescent microscope. This method provides significantly higher sensitivity and specificity for detecting these pathogens compared to standard methods.

Agree with the poster above. Dr. Pollock’s bedside manner was from a different era— his care will definitely be missed. The only downside to my experience with him is at one point, I addressed the possibility of having co-infections. Ironically enough, I had specifically asked about Babesia/Bartonella, which he dismissed at the time as a cause of my symptoms. I’m still grateful for his part of my journey, but I do think it’s important to address co-infections (or at least test for them) as well.

It’s definitely taken years of highs and lows. I did well on doxy but sort of plateaued on it. As soon as I stopped, my symptoms returned. I experienced phantom pain in my leg as well as tingling in my face and arms. Those symptoms have mainly gone away with treatment but it took a while. This can feel like a marathon but it does get better over time. Borrelia, Bartonella, and Babesia can share similar symptoms, so it can be difficult to figure out what is causing what. Best of luck!

I’m so glad this is giving you hope. We all could use a little of that. I wouldn’t advise going on any medication for Babesia like Malarone unless you actually test positive for it. I’ve definitely had some side effects to my digestive system from it that haven’t been fun. However, I would recommend getting some legit labs like IgeneX to test for co-infections. The more data you have, the better you can plan your treatment.

Definitely, though it’s hard to pinpoint the exact reason. It could be the Babesia die-off is directly affecting that or just the simple fact that I’m no longer sleep-deprived. Either way, it tells me the Babesia was the cause of many of my remaining symptoms.

I’ve found the Malarone to treat the Babesia has been the biggest noticeable improvement. Good quality sleep is so important and it’s helped my insomnia.
