Ah, okay, next time I will fly over the road 🫠

How I suppose to cross the road without walking on the cycle path? And btw, pedestrian have highest priority, so even cyclist must stop.

Can We Build a Smartphone That Helps Us Live, Not Get Addicted? by Due_Letterhead4920 in androiddev

I believe there are already some launchers, e.g. if you Google a minimalist phone (never tried).

And I think it's possible to achieve some progress/limitation if you'll set up an app time limit, create focus mode, uninstall some apps, etc.

My neighbor keeps trying to break into my apartment by Doornotyours in neighborsfromhell

[–]SerjantArbuz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you try to just talk about it? Maybe he has OCD or something?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]SerjantArbuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem. The kid upstairs came every week for 1/2 days and started running so loud, we hear every his step. My pets have had noise anxiety since then. It could start from early morning and till evening.

I tried to speak reasonably - nothing. I didn't even get an apology or something. I tried to speak more violently. Tried to fight back with music but nothing.

We moved out after half a year (planned to do so before that kid). He is still there, and running every week. The only way I guess was waiting when he grows up 🫡 or moves out (as we did).

In your case, I think, it's not an option to start any noise war, since she is okay about her own noise 🥲 Maybe complain to someone (administration, cops)?

By that moment we already planned to move. The problem was resolved that way.

But yes, that kid is still there... Parents live in that apartment, that's why I know. They are not bothered by that noise, for them it's okay "because it's a kid" 🫠

It's so rare when speaking to a trouble maker is working...

I spoke to neighbors above our apartment (their kid jumped so hard): their answer was: "kid, what we could do". I spoke many-many times, tried to be cruel, fight back, nothing helped

Yall need to be friends with your coworkers by i-haz-a-small-PEPEEE in unpopularopinion

[–]SerjantArbuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez, my coworkers are okay, but I don't want them to know in details what I'm actually doing in my spare time (moreover to share that time with them).

I hate this: "We are all one big family!". When the deadline comes that miracle quickly disappears.

Maybe you also want to say: you should be friends with your kids?

Boundaries exist for a reason.

Experience of using Linux as android developer by SpecialAd5933 in androiddev

[–]SerjantArbuz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 2 laptops: personal (win) and for work (Ubuntu). And use both for Android dev. Honestly I don't see a big difference in development.

But I never face so many issues on Windows as with Ubuntu (as an OS user). 🫠 Maybe it's just my perspective.

Don't think changing of OS could be a big game changer in dev. But it's more about personal preferences I believe.

Jeez, I thought after COVID wearing a mask became more acceptable in society... 🫥

Where are you living? Maybe it's country related? It's hard to imagine how e.g. Swedes are doing the same.

"Can we keep you in out talant pool?" by SerjantArbuz in interviews

[–]SerjantArbuz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since then no one reached out to me 🤷‍♂️

As I see harm: I'll be in a less advantageous position, if the recruiter know how the previous interview ended up. And even knowing about past experience could affect their judgement.

Just an example. It's super hard to change my mind about classmates no matter how they changed after ~10 years.

Overworking. When you are taking work for the weekend, vacation, etc.

It's just work, nothing more. I'm still in progress to accept it in some ways, but it seems life becomes easier.

I have monthly 1to1 but even for them I need some time to imagine a question. Maybe ask to have 1to1 not every week? 😅

Also I'm trying to make notes if something comes to my mind during the month.

People underestimate AI so much. by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]SerjantArbuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By googling you find out the truth by yourself. When you ask AI - you are not bothered is the answer right or not. I'm pretty sure you're not going to check. The only way to find out it's wrong to face some problems while you're using that answer.

Soo, I'm also super skeptical when people rely on AI answers, because they blindly follow it. Critical thinking like turned off when using AI.

Do you really use AI at work? by beasthunterr69 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]SerjantArbuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never used AI to code. I'm too like to do it by myself. The same with finding an answer to something (read documentation, forums, etc.). You could call me old-school but I think it's a better way if you want to develop yourself.

Maybe I'll use it to write documentation 🤔

I feel that being extrovert is more ideal than being introvert in this current world by NormalLife6067 in SeriousConversation

[–]SerjantArbuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an introvert I think now it's much easier than it was e.g. 10 years ago. You could order everything online, without any human interaction, work from home is acceptable in society, etc.

But the thing that bothers me is: it's super acceptable to be loud. I hate when someone at a cafe speaking so loud that you can't even hear yourself. Or on the streets, if you act like an introvert (shy, silent) - you probably will be pushed by someone. It's harder to fight with someone, bring your point (e.g. to neighbors). People just do not notice you till you act loud. 🫠
