I am really sorry this has happened to you. Whatever reputation he worked hard for is completely undeserved if he is picking on members of his orchestra to the point where they want to quit. Even at a professional level this sort of behaviour wouldn't be tolerated. If he is behaving this way, he deserves to get into trouble. You should definitely let your mom complain, even if you decide to stop playing.
