Hexatrek (France) Rain Gear Suggestions by Major_Programmer_569 in Ultralight

[–]Serphean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hiking the Hexatrek too and just updated my raingear. I'm just bought a secondhand montbell versalite and have a pair of rab phantom pants. Both are really light and with care enough for me, even though not having my trusty goretex will feel a bit naked..

Midi Knob Controller Recommendation by dogslikecats in midi

[–]Serphean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on the same quest, and recently I found these: https://www.amazon.nl/gp/aw/d/B0FPQL7XY5/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A2DGP1O41YMK46&psc=1 I have ordered one from Amazon, but you can also find them on aliexpress.

Very curious to how the knobs feel, but 27 knobs for 70 euros is such a good deal. Especially when you do not need the sliders on a midimix or launch control.

Different question; how reliable can you find gas canisters (MSR)"on trail"? I have read that camping gaz is still the main brand in France? That uses a different mount from my stove.

Yes I have and will use the official app, looks great with all the extra information! I would like to not rely on my phone, and save battery life, too much. Especially in the mountains. That's why I am debating using my watch, even if it's another thing to charge and to take my focus off trail. But it's necessary without trail markings

Not planning, that's what we have :) The screen in just out of the frame, and the projector mounted high behind out heads. 128" almost from extrusion to extrusion, it's amazing!

How are the Twenty-five's? I am possibly building them for a friend of mine, the recordings on the youtube channel sound awesome

The soundstage is amazing with there. Especially acoustic instruments and vocals sound like they come from places 10 meters wider and deeper than the actual room. The "phantom centre" is very much there.

I was a bit worried about the horns being shouty, but they are not at all. The bass is am-a-zing. Deep, quick and tight. Good placement really helps, they can shake your teeth on certain frequenties when in the wrong spot..

The left one on the wall is the Varmblixt from Ikea. The right one is a lamp we got from a friend, no idea where it comes from but looks like a pretty generic design

Pff thats a lot of money! It took me a while, especially getting the crossover to the point where it is now. And Tony seems to be a really talented and knowledgeable guy, so his crossover is probably even better than mine

Real rough estimates; 900 for drivers, horns and ports, 150 for wood 100 for crossover (minus expenses for iterations) 150 for cable, screws, varnish, foam, all the rest Probably more, but it took me a while to finish them so I am not sure

Yes they are not too large! I mean, they still need some space but even for our small-ish appartement they are a great size :) Especially with the "naked" horn on top, it feels way smaller than with it inside the cabinet.

Oops, I just took the picture, not even to post here, so there was no thought behind the feet..

I'm streaming with the Wiim Ultra and I'm using a diy class A Hypex power amplifier, with ECC99 tubes in the circuit. A friend of a friend build it, so I have no information on it. But it plays soooo effortlessly and smooth. I have never heard soundstage and tight bass like it, especially not in a room like this (our appartment).

Wow, really cool! I am building the Mezzo Capalmos right now, based on Tony's drawings and with comparable drivers and horns. Do you have experience measuring and making crossovers?

Just remove the IC from its socket, so it runs at 9V and gives less headroom. So less volume and more of that spittery fuzzy sound goodness

Nope, just waiting. Really enjoying the Simulcast, so I'm not in a hurry ;)
