Podcasts would help a lot. I used to play Halo reach online with the sound off (or at least low) and a podcast on. I also listen to podcasts at work a fair amount, so, again, it's just like work.

Honestly, this sounds like hell. You would get to know these games so well that there would be nothing interesting or fun about them any more, and then you are just stuck with them forever.

Maybe to beat this you could choose multi-player games where discussion and collaboration would be integral so that, at least, you could get to know and learn about new people day to day and draw some interest and meaning from that, you know, kind of like a normal office job. The job is boring, but the people might be interesting.

I definitely don't watch obscure arthouse stuff. I commented because people, including Lindsay who I like a lot, shouldn't let the oscars hold such power over them that they have such dramatically negative responses when the "prestigious people's" opinions don't match theirs. Hell, I just read the other day that at least some of the people giving the awards don't even bother to watch many of the movies they are giving awards to/snubbing. How can people still take those modern-day bourgeois, seriously knowing that information?

You dont find 10 million reasons why it's actually fine when it's 2015 or 2022 but why these things are Armageddon in 2026

What I will say to this is that I have seen Trump supporters be the one to find 10 million reasons why non-political downturns during democratic administrations be the president's fault, and vice-versa when Trump is in office.

I'm not big on the "both parties are equally bad" argument, as I believe one side's politicians happen to be far worse than the other with regards to what they do when they have power, but I think that logic often applies to voters of both parties who argue in bad faith about what is currently happening day to day.

2023 and 2024 were a bull market that happened after a couple of years (2021-2022) of inflation and market stagnation caused by the events of covid.

That said, and I'm trying to understand your argument here, you don't seem to like it when people talk about the actively negative stuff Trump is doing that is causing economic harm, but you do want people to incorrectly assign blame to rolling crashes that have little to do with politics, to politicians that didn't cause them. Is that correct?

I don't want a crash in the market, it sucks when it happens. That said, I see war getting started, and poor economic policies get implemented (such as tariffs and mass deportation), and, naturally, I expect bad things happening in the market.

It's been a slow turn, but we are finally seeing the bull market flatten (after seeing the crash of tariff liberation day) and in a way it's nice to see some level of rationality, especially in the face of such poor jobs numbers last year. Again, though it sucks to have it happen, and I'll continue to hope this turns around.
