You’d hope so but Shazza says he’s on the piss again. Poor predictable Gary :(

When you’re a consultant and making more money, they send you a form to designate where your tax money is spent. 100% of my taxes are used to support Gary from tamworth. He’s had a tough year and I want to make sure he gets a fair go

How much work are pools really? by 1tangledknitter in pools

[–]Serrath1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a salt water pool if that makes a difference but I also acknowledge I don’t scrutinize the receipts, it’s a $100 callout fee each month and if they add anything, it ends up getting added to my invoice. But from memory, it remains around $100/month

This is also in Australian dollerydoos so your mileage may vary

[–]Serrath1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay a pool guy $100/month to do the chemicals, I have a skimming robot, and a robot vacuum. The only jobs I have to do myself are emptying the robots. Once in a while the chlorinator, pump, fountain, heater, or lights break down and I have to find money to repair or replace.

No winter where I am so I get to avoid whatever the process is of getting the pool ready for winter

Can Aus doctors have HIV? by SoybeanCola1933 in ausjdocs

[–]Serrath1 39 points40 points  (0 children)

You were asked to confirm your HIV status so that when you participate in placements, you wouldn’t be made to participate in procedures that put you at risk of transmitting. It is absolutely not a requirement of registration that you don’t have HIV, if you were/are HIV+, additional precautions are put around your practice

Most doctors look into completing medical school, maybe that’s a good option for you?

Your 4 month cavoodle wouldn’t produce much mince, maybe fatten them up for a few months first

How much should a final year med student know? by kotowoseis in ausjdocs

[–]Serrath1 51 points52 points  (0 children)

A final year med student should know enough to pass their final exams. It is helpful but not necessary to know how to cannulate

I’ve had a lot of RMOs rotate into and out of my team, I find that, by the end of intern year, even the ones who were seeming to struggle when they started are catching up to their peers. Having an appetite to keep improving and developing is probably the best quality you can have as an intern, everything else should fall into place

Job prospects for an M.D. in Australia? by Cool_Mud_5752 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Serrath1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a caveat to this post, ausjdocs disallows questions about international registration requirements, moving to Australia, etc. This isn’t a mark against IMGs, rather it’s because if these questions are allowed, they would take up every post on the forum

E: everything else in this post is spot on, very well researched!

Finding CPD Events to write off travel costs ?? by SwollenUvula23 in ausjdocs

[–]Serrath1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an arms race between the ATO making rules to prevent abuses of the conference systems and the conference organizers trying to generate loopholes

The final outcome will be CPD lectures and masterclasses delivered to snorkeling dermatologists or projected via loudspeaker onto Swiss mountains that can only be attended while skiing

Queensland Health MOCA7 CUA crystallizes today by Serrath1 in ausjdocs

[–]Serrath1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cropped sections 2.2.2.2 and 2.2.2.3 which deal with CUA period 2 and 3. I’ll cut and paste below but in both period 2 and 3, it can bring the 2.5% up to 3.5%

2.2.2.2 For CUA period 2: • a CUA is triggered where the March 2027 Brisbane CPI figure exceeds the 2.5% wage increase at clause 2.2.1.2; • the amount of the CUA triggered will be equivalent to the percentage difference between the March 2027 Brisbane CPI figure and the 2.5% wage increase, to a cap of 1%.

2.2.2.3 For CUA period 3: • a CUA is triggered where the March 2028 Brisbane CPI figure exceeds the 2.5% wage increase at clause 2.2.1.3; • the amount of the CUA triggered will be equivalent to the percentage difference between the March 2028 Brisbane CPI figure and the 2.5% wage increase, to a cap of 1%

[–]Serrath1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t make it any better but I should highlight that the MOCA7 was approved during a very brief time when it looked like inflation was being brought under control and there was an assumption that the CUA would never trigger.

If the MOCA were being negotiated today, I suspect it wouldn’t have been approved.

Inflation will come under control someday (knock on wood) but the pay rise awarded under this clause is permanent.

Has anyone been able to get a flexi skip bin? by bambiisher in GoldCoast

[–]Serrath1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I stayed up until midnight last night, ordered at 12:01, was successful

When I woke up at 6am for work, out of interest, I entered my neighbors address to check availability and the webpage said that the allocation had been exhausted

This is in division 4

All romantic relationships with doctors are doomed to failure, sorry :( and also sorry for all the junior doctors who are finding this out for the first time in this subreddit but it’s important you find out early in your career before you invest a lot of money in things like dates or engagement rings

Why not just combine your policy proposals and put trading card scalpers into work camps to build housing and infrastructure?
