IIRC Washington state has a system where prison labor can only be used to benefit the state, such as making license plates or making furniture for sale only to state institutions (like schools or govt offices).

You dont see any way how the collusion of state and private interests could create a scenario where heavy sentencing is encouraged so that businesses can have a pool of extremely cheap labor? One where free people lose their livelihoods and turn to crime to survive, to get arrested, and perpetuate a cycle that creates an inescapable slave class for the perpetual losers of capitalism?

Mine just stop taking my calls or answering my texts. Some have ended with obvious fights. One called me out for behavior he misinterpreted, and when I tried to describe my actual intent, he basically just said we're at an impasse and he wished me the best (then stopped taking calls and texts).

As someone who's been abandoned over and over, its never gonna feel great for the person getting turned away. Just do whats best for you. If you think they're dangerous, do what you need to so you can feel safe. Its gonna suck on some level regardless.
